An evening well spent with our Working German Shepherd, Nyxx! 🐾

Tonight, Travis spent some quality time working Nyxx on one of the most overlooked but important skills—engagement.

Using a 15-foot long line, we gave her as much freedom as possible while reinforcing:
✅ Loose leash walking
✅ Eye contact
✅ Checking in with the handler
✅ Reliable recall

The goal isn’t to control your dog—it’s to teach them to choose you, even when they have the freedom to explore.

A strong relationship and bond are the foundation of every well-trained dog. Training isn’t just about obedience… it’s about building trust, communication, and teamwork.

After a successful session, it was time to wind down with an elk antler on her bed, practicing another important life skill—learning how to settle and relax inside the house.

A dog that knows when to work and when to switch off is a happier companion.
