At 5 years old, French Fry is a little French Bulldog with a big personality! She is good with kids, cats, and other dogs, making her quite the well rounded little nugget!💗

French Fry absolutely LOVES attention and will happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. She’s silly, sweet, and wonderfully well behaved! She can be a little nervous when walking on a leash, but she’s working on it and would love a patient person to help her build confidence!

Like most Frenchies, French Fry has some typical skin issues, so she’s currently getting a medicated bath once a day to help keep her skin feeling its best! 🛁

If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate little companion who will keep you laughing, French Fry might be your perfect match!🥰

WHO IS LOOKING FORWARD TO STOCK THE SHELTER?! Can’t contain your excitement for our September 26th event?! Don’t worry -- there are a few supplies we need that we simply CANNOT GO WITHOUT until then!

Right now, the shelter is our of the following items:

🐾 Hill’s Science Diet Adult dry dog food

❤ AMELIA UPDATE 🐾

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated, shared Amelia’s story, and sent good thoughts her way.

Yesterday, Amelia returned to the VMC to have her surgical drain removed, but unfortunately ended up staying most of the day after being admitted with a 103° fever and a severe infection in some of the stab wounds on her right side. Because she wasn’t eating or taking her oral medications, she received injectable pain medication, vitamins, antibiotics, and fluids.

Back at the shelter, Amelia is eating a little more, which is encouraging. She’ll need injectable medications until she’s strong enough to take her medications by mouth. Our per diem vet, vet techs, and staff will continue monitoring her closely throughout the holiday weekend.

We also know that the woman accused of harming Amelia has been arrested. HumaneCNY is not involved in the case, and that is all we know at this time. Our focus is on Amelia and making her recovery as painless and comfortable as possible!

Bruce is looking for his forever home! Bruce is September's West Herr Chevrolet of Clay Adoptable Dog of the Month!

At 5 years old, this handsome Rottweiler mix has all the qualities that make for an exceptional companion. He's affectionate, easy going, and genuinely enjoys being with his people. Whether it's a leisurely walk, a car ride, or simply hanging out together, Bruce is happiest when he's sharing life with someone.

And more exciting recent news about what sets Bruce apart: He knows a lot of 'tricks'! He spins! He speaks! He offers one paw and then the other when asked! Someone spent the time to train this beautiful dog, and now you can take it from here!

Bruce has been spending some time (including overnights) with a foster couple. Here is their report of Bruce’s behavior with them:

‘Bruce is totally house trained, walks great on a leash, very relaxed in the house. Totally pays attention to his humans and will lick your face endlessly! A real gentleman.’

His volunteer walkers report that he's slow and easy on the leash and nonreactive as he strolls through the surrounding neighborhoods. Bruce also gets along well with other dogs and would love a family that will include him in everyday adventures! He's the kind of dog who makes life a little brighter just by being part of it. Now he just needs someone to give him the chance.

Reintroducing Milo & Mila! 🐾

Milo and Mila are two beautiful 6-year-old cats who came to us with their sister, Myla, who has since been adopted. While we’re so happy Myla found her forever home, Milo and Mila are still waiting for theirs! ❤️

They came to us as surrenders, so we don’t know much about their past. What we do know is that both of these sweet cats have come such a long way during their time at the shelter.

🐱 Milo arrived very shy and unsure, but he has truly blossomed! He’s learned that people are safe and that he is surrounded by those who want to love and care for him. Milo currently resides in our community room and has just gotten over a little kitty cold. He’s feeling better and is ready to find his forever home!

🐱 Mila came in with a little more confidence and has continued to grow it during her time with us. She’s a sweet, confident girl who has also been recovering from a kitty cold and is now well on her way to feeling like herself again. We’re hoping her forever family is right around the corner!

Milo and Mila can be adopted together or separately, depending on what’s best for them and their new family.

These two wonderful cats deserve a loving home where they can be spoiled, cherished, and spend the rest of their lives knowing just how loved they truly are. 🏡❤️

Athena and Pup are dressed to impress and ready to enjoy their golden years with you! 🌞

Athena, female, 4 pounds, and Pup, male, 11 pounds, are both 12 years old and just want to be spoiled and loved on! They are not bonded and would be happy being adopted together or separately! 🐶

They are very laid back and easy going. While they both like other dogs, Pup is more likely to play while Athena just wants to hang out and snuggle with her humans!

These adorable seniors are in a foster home, so we require a pre-approved application in order to meet them!

Today, we welcomed a dog who has already experienced more pain than any animal ever should. A pain that seems to be happening far too often…

Amelia was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife. She was choked. She was beaten. And after everything she had endured, she could have been facing euthanasia if we weren’t able to take her in.

So today, we said yes. There was simply no other answer. We couldn’t let the worst thing someone did to her be the end of her story.

And somehow, despite everything, she is still a sweet, loving dog. She still looks at people with gentle eyes. She still wants affection. She still believes that maybe, people can be kind.

We know the road to a healed and healthy girl is expensive and long. She received emergent medical care at Veterinary Medical Center. We took her knowing that this would be a significant financial commitment, but she deserved someone to say yes to her.

Now we need our community to help us keep that promise.

Meet Libby Lu!💖

Libby is a sweet 1-year-old girl who came to us as a stray!

Libby definitely doesn’t act like a stray, though! She will happily greet anyone who opens her cage and would gladly accept unlimited pets. 🥰

This lady may be small, but she sure knows how to EAT! Libby is a huge foodie and absolutely loves her meals and snacks🍽️

Libby is at the perfect age and would be a great fit for just about any home! We haven’t tried her with other cats yet, but with her wonderful attitude and a proper introduction, we think she could do well with other pets, too!
