🐴School horses, Bernie, Gunner, Hoshi, and Tex, were very excited to enjoy the brisk air this morning!
❓We get a lot of questions about how old our school horses are and how long horses horses can be ridden.
👵🏻The answer is that all of our current school horses are 20+, but you would never know it based off this morning’s play session.
🐎A combination of movement, a careful feeding plan, and regular vet visits can help keep horses healthy and happy. Just like with humans, motion is lotion and keeping them active with moderate exercise like lessons can help horses stay youthful well into their senior years.
👩🏻⚕️Ultimately, it is best to work with vets to determine their ability to be ridden, but it’s also very important to listen to the horses as they are very adept at telling us when they are no longer interested in being ridden. Some horses enjoy being ridden even into their 30’s!
