What a fantastic time we had at Rockin’ in the Rox yesterday! 🎶☀️

We loved spending the evening with so many wonderful families, neighbors, and community members. Events like these are a great reminder of what makes Roxborough such a special place to live, work, and connect.

🦷🐾 Did you know? Your pet's dental health is about more than what you can see! 🐾🦷

🦷 Interesting fact: Approximately 60% of a tooth is hidden below the gumline. That means when we examine your pet's teeth during an initial oral exam, we can only evaluate the portion of the tooth that is visible above the gums. While we can identify obvious concerns such as tartar buildup, gingivitis, broken teeth, or visible signs of infection, there may be additional issues lurking beneath the surface that cannot be seen during a routine examination. This makes dental radiographs an essential part of a complete dental assessment.

Dental X-rays allow us to evaluate:
✔ Tooth roots
✔ Bone loss around teeth
✔ Hidden fractures
✔ Abscesses and infections
✔ Resorptive lesions and other painful conditions

🐕 Another interesting fact: Small breed dogs are genetically predisposed to developing dental disease. Because of this increased risk, veterinary dental experts often recommend annual professional dental cleanings for many small breed dogs to help prevent painful dental disease and tooth loss.

Many pets with significant dental disease show few or no obvious signs at home. By the time they stop eating or show signs of pain, dental disease may already be advanced.

If your pet has bad breath, tartar buildup, red gums, or it's simply been a while since their last dental evaluation, now is the perfect time to schedule a dental consultation.

At Peak Veterinary Hospital, one of Dr. Annie’s biggest dreams was to create a veterinary practice that feels like home — a place where pets can relax, families feel comfortable, and medicine is paired with compassion. 🏡❤️

Seeing a happy pup curled up on the couch reminds us why that vision matters so much. Vet visits can be stressful, but we believe care feels different when it comes with warmth, kindness, and a space designed to feel welcoming from the moment you walk through the door.

We are so grateful to our amazing community for trusting us with your pets and allowing us to build the kind of hospital we always hoped for — one that feels a little less clinical and a lot more like family.

We are incredibly thankful for an amazing first week with our newest veterinarian, Dr. Liz Braasch! 🩺🐾

Dr. Braasch brings an extensive background in emergency medicine, helping us expand the level of urgent and emergency care we are able to provide to our patients. From critical situations to unexpected illnesses and injuries, our patients are in excellent hands.
