Harmony Horse Stables celebrated 40 years of operation this past Saturday! This has been a bittersweet time, but we can't forget to celebrate the good moments together!🎉

Kathryn and Dennis, you are our inspiration! Running an incredible horseback riding business for 40 years straight is an unbelievable accomplishment few can claim! We celebrate you and your expertise, leadership, and generosity.

Thank you to our speakers Kimmy, Courtney, Sophie, and Tracey for sharing so many heartwarming, tear-inducing, and laughter-creating stories. Thank you especially to Kathryn and Dennis for creating a facility that has become the home away from home for so many of us.

To 40 more years of horse dreams come true! 🥂

We are saddened to share the news that our beloved Commodore has passed on. As an older gentlemen, he enjoyed his retirement here at Harmony with lots of trips to the back grass and grooming sessions galore to get that good itch in.

From his perfect, rolling gaits, smooth as butter, to his earnest, honest, affectionate personality, he earned his place as the king of the barn.

Anyone who worked with him fell in love with his gentle nature. And sure, he wanted his hay when he wanted his hay (and he would make sure you knew), but it was really about getting your attention so he could have a little love and some extra scratchies before a meal. 💜
He was always up for a good grooming , or better yet, a waltz to the back grass for a snack, your pick!

We all want that kind of bond with our horse that makes everything seem effortless. If you ever had the pleasure of watching Kathryn ride Commodore, you know they shared that bond. From winning champion in Western Dressage competitions, to cantering ba****ck and bitless for our adult club demonstrations… from strutting into the show ring together, to free lunging completely as one… and to so many more beautiful, jaw-dropping accomplishments over the years, Kathryn and Commodore shared a relationship few others possess.

We are honored to have had him for as long as we did. Please join us as we give Kathryn, Dennis, and the people of Harmony our condolences and our joy for a peaceful passing for our beloved Commodore.

See you on the other side, buddy! You lived so well. 💜

Congratulations to our riders on another successful show day! ☀️

Fredda & her own Miss Mocha 🤎 stepped out into dressage ring with a 34.1% and did a fabulous job over poles in the big ring for fourth place! A year ago, Mocha would not have done this - Fredda has put a lot of work into her and it’s really starting to show. Mocha was totally cool off property!

Eleanor and your boy Steve Harvey 🥸 had one of their best outings yet! They finished on their dressage score in the Pre-Starter for 🥉 and were able to rock it around two extra jump rounds! They were a perfect pair today and totally in sync!

Ella and Viva Las Vegas 🎰 had their first competition together after building up a partnership for the last two months, and WOW. They shined in the dressage arena to place 🥇 ending on their dressage score. They then built up to cruise around two extra jump rounds with fabulous results.

Finally Evie piloted our own Pippin 🧙‍♂️ through his first show to end on their dressage score for 🥈 and did an extra jump rounds. Pippin is settling in so nicely and taking everything in stride that we’re asking him - he is a special boy!

A big thanks to the parents for all their help and for another great show run by Cutter Farm. And a huge thank you to our own Nancy for grooming!

☀️ A beautiful Thursday for a field trip to Apple Knoll Farm for a double-lesson with one of our favorite clinicians, Jerry Schurink! 📚 We have four pairs there today for a morning flat in the sandbox and afternoon jump lesson. Looking good, girls! ⭐️ 📸: Patricia Agsten-Wildes

Our Beginner Summer Program ☀️ is underway! Riders are learning all about:

🐴 horse breeds
🐴 anatomy and parts of the horses
🐴 Coat colors and face markings
🐴 riding in the ring and on the trail
🐴 … and more later this week!

This morning, the riders labeled 45 parts of the horses, and Pippin was the perfect model.

❌ MYTH: A horse that is sweating always has a hot internal temperature.

Thanks Kate for explaining how amazing horses’ thermoregulation is and Finn for being such a good model! ⭐️

Stay cool in this heat everyone! 😎
