Sharing a huge thank you to Jasmine!❤️ I have never met this beautiful girl, but she did something super special and I just had to share.
Three weeks ago, my dog Eddie had emergency surgery to remove a mass within his liver that turned out to be cancer, a hepatocellular carcinoma.
During the procedure, Eddie’s protein and blood levels dropped resulting in the need for blood & plasma and because of superhero Jasmine he was able to receive a life saving transfusion!
The need for blood transfusions is frequent in many veterinary hospitals and can be crucial in many situations, including trauma, immune disorders, and blood loss during surgery. For dogs with any of these conditions, getting a blood transfusion from another dog can be life-saving.
(A single donation can save more than one life because both the red blood cells and the blood plasma are used.)
I am grateful for Jasmine and say thank you to all super hero blood donors, both canine and human! ~k
