"Once in a lifetime kinda duck dogs."

We know duck dogs and we can appreciate every one of them. They all have their quirks and I am here to help with a custom catered veterinary approach for each one.

Some take a little more, but some do a little better with less.

Taking appointments in Little Rock starting this thursday.

The race to success... Does it hurt or stunt the long term athletic career and lifetime of our labs?

We all know that arthritis and joint pain are huge contributors to quality of life as they reach their senior years.

Is this just their destiny as a breed or can we improve this part of their life and extend their athletic years?

Understanding the vaccines your dog is getting is paramount to feeling confident in your decisions at the vet.

What does my dog truly need?

Are the tests being performed the most sensitive and specific?

How much does Vaccine Titer Testing cost?

These are questions that I've been getting in the exam room that I really like. Keep em up!

Dog owners, especially sporting dog owners, need to pick up on these three early signs of change that could allow for a veterinarian to diagnose disease earlier...

1. An increase in the consumption of water.

2. Odd episodes of vomiting.

3. Odd noises while breathing and working.

These are just a few of the small signs that help us dial in a diagnosis or rule out a few others, but we would never know if our clients don't observe and report these findings. Dogs learn to cope with their diseases very well, but often a breaking point is where coping turns into distress.

Changing of the seasons typically is a time where we see distress pop up as air temperatures rise and allergens are stirred up in the environment.

Let me know if I can help. We are available throughout the week for consultation as well as routine wellness workups. Blood work, X-Rays, and Ultrasound give us so much information at a relatively cheap rate.

A yearly visit doesn't always have to be about vaccines...

A few things to remember…

Be extremely cautious as temperatures start to rise and humidity starts to creep up.

Heat Stroke is real. GDV is real as well.

These two issues have taken far too many great dogs. Be thoughtful and as always, feel free to ask.

As we settle into spring and summer, I thought I would take the time to review a few health related topics that have been on my mind.

- Tick Prevention : There is nothing more goal crushing than a tick borne disease. Be mindful as these little critters are more active than ever.

- Eye Exams : Find an ophthalmologist in your area. Have them take a look at the eyes of your retriever. Very important part of retrieving.

If I can help, reach out. But most of all, you can help by sharing this post to help others remember. Thank you for sharing.

Kennel Cough Vaccine Reminder

We are a few weeks out from the Grand and well into spring hunt test season. In order for vaccines to work and work to their maximal effectiveness, they must be given at least 2 weeks prior to being exposed.

The DHPP vaccine, The Flu vaccine as well as the Intranasal Bordatella vaccine all help in the fight to fend off nasty upper respiratory infections.

Let’s give em a chance to work.
