🐾 Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week! 🩺

🐶 Dog hair? Check.
🐱 Cat scratches? Possibly.
🐄 Cow drama? Absolutely.
🐴 Horse-sized problems? You bet.
🐐 Goats with questionable manners? Naturally.
🐷 Questionable smells? Guaranteed.
☕ Caffeine keeping us functioning? 100%.

Welcome to life in mixed animal veterinary medicine, where you might start your day cuddling kittens, spend your afternoon helping with a calving, and end it wondering how you managed to get covered in something you definitely don't want to identify.

Behind every successful veterinary team are vet techs juggling a million things at once, comforting scared patients, supporting worried owners, assisting with procedures, and somehow keeping everything moving while surviving on caffeine and pure determination. 💪🐾

This week, we're celebrating the hardworking, compassionate, slightly crazy people who show up every day for animals of ALL shapes and sizes. From the smallest kitten to the biggest cow, we do a little bit of everything, wear a lot of different hats, and occasionally question our life choices. 😉

But at the end of the day, there's nowhere else we'd rather be! ❤️

Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week to all the incredible veterinary technicians and support staff out there! You are valued, you are appreciated, and the work you do matters more than you know. 🐾🩺

Over the next few days we will introduce our wonderful Veterinary Technichians and Assistants who work here at Living Waters Veterinary Clinic! 🐶🐱🐴🐄
~ Check back for updates! ~

🐾 Weight Gain Isn't Just About Food 🐾

If your pet has been gaining weight, it might be tempting to blame the treats, but the whole story can be more complicated.

Just like people, pets can gain weight for many reasons, including:
🐶 Less daily activity or changes in routine
🩺 Age-related changes in metabolism
🦴 Arthritis or pain that makes movement uncomfortable
🩻 Underlying medical conditions, such as hormonal disorders

A few extra pounds may not seem like a big deal, but maintaining a healthy weight can help reduce the risk of joint problems, diabetes, heart disease, and other health concerns—while helping your pet enjoy a happier, more active life.

Your veterinary team can help determine why your pet is gaining weight and create a personalized plan that fits their lifestyle and health needs. Sometimes it's as simple as adjusting portions or increasing activity. Other times, a medical evaluation can uncover an issue that needs attention.

❤️ A healthier weight starts with understanding the "why."

📅 If you've noticed your pet is putting on extra pounds, give your veterinary clinic a call to schedule an exam. They can help your pet get back on the path to a healthier, happier life.

Definitely a great thing to keep in mind, just because your pet is "Slowing down" it's not JUST age, usually there is something behind it like Osteoarthritis or other health conditions that can often be managed!

"They're just getting older." ❤️ Or are they?

It's easy to assume that slowing down is simply part of aging, but many pets are actually living with pain that can be treated.

If your dog doesn't jump into the car anymore, hesitates to climb stairs, sleeps more than usual, or seems less interested in walks or playtime, they may be telling you something. Cats are even better at hiding discomfort, so changes like jumping less, avoiding the litter box, or becoming less social can also be signs of pain.

The good news? Your pet doesn't have to "just live with it."

Today's veterinary medicine offers more options than ever to help pets stay comfortable, active, and enjoying the things they love. From arthritis management and weight support to medications, rehabilitation, and other therapies, your veterinary team can create a plan tailored to your pet's needs.

🐾 If you've noticed changes in your pet's mobility, behavior, or activity level, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. A simple conversation could make a world of difference in your best friend's comfort and quality of life.

Growing older is inevitable, but living in pain doesn't have to be.
