Our pet professionals walk into a house they have memorized. Where the spare key lives in the notes, which cat pretends not to care, which dog needs a minute in the hallway before the leash comes out.

They are employees, not a stranger from an app. They train. They cover for each other. They send the photos that make you put your phone down and then pick it back up.

If you have a favorite Pet Companion on our team, say their name. They should hear it from somebody besides us.

Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, which is a terrible name for a good conversation.

We are not here to roast anybody’s lab who looks like a sofa. We are here to say the quiet part: extra weight shows up in joints, in summer walks, and in how fast they recover from a weekend of cousins.

Our pet professionals see the difference between “this breed is sturdy” and “this harness is doing overtime.” If you are unsure, your vet is the right person. We will just keep the walks honest and the treats from turning into a second dinner.

No before-and-after photos needed. If you have a sturdy pal who still zooms, we would love to meet them in the comments.

They sit on the homework. They approve the keyboard. They attend the meeting from under the desk like it is a conference room.

October in this part of Texas is sneaky. Mornings look like a calendar. Afternoons still argue. The walk is the same loop and it photographs differently anyway.

Our pet professionals notice the light before they notice the date. That is a good way to tell a week is turning.
