🌱 BEHIND THE SCENES AT LION EYE FARMS

Ever wonder what goes into the soil we grow our plants in?

Here's our custom soil mixing station. We start with Florida peat and blend our own growing medium using natural ingredients, including mineral amendments and worm castings.

We mix it ourselves because healthy plants start with healthy roots, and we like knowing exactly what goes into our growing media.

A little more work, but it's part of how we do things around here.

💜 NATIVE PLANT SPOTLIGHT: AMERICAN BEAUTYBERRY 💜

American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) is one of those native plants that really earns its place in the landscape.

In spring and summer, the small flowers attract pollinators — including bees like the one in our first photo. Later in the season, those flowers develop into the incredible clusters of bright purple berries that make Beautyberry so easy to recognize.
