Leetonia Feral Walter is in bad shape again. 💔

A few weeks ago, we made the decision alongside our vet team to release Walter back to his outdoor home. While we all wished he could adjust to indoor life, Walter made it clear that wasn’t what he wanted.

And for a while, he continued to heal, went back to his normal routine and was really happy.

Then, one of our volunteers noticed his eye starting to look bad again.

Thanks to Karen Seidner and our dedicated volunteer Marissa, Walter was safely trapped and brought back into our care so he could be seen by the vet. We are incredibly grateful for their help. 💜

At our appointment, we learned that the issue may not be his eye at all. The damage keeps moving around the eye. Instead, our veterinarian believes Walter likely has an infection in his mouth that could be contributing to what we’re seeing. He might need dental work.

The plan is 10 days of antibiotics, deworming and then a recheck.

After that, we may be facing some very difficult decisions.

Walter has shown us that he is not comfortable living indoors around people. But if he needs multiple teeth removed, releasing him back to his outdoor home may no longer be a humane option.💔

So for now, we pray that the antibiotics work and that infection heals. Or, we pray that he shows any signs of wanting to be an indoor cat. 🙏

Because despite all of his grumpy feral opinions, this boy is deeply loved. 😔 We want the best for him, and we will do the best by him.

Sigh. Walter got in another fight 💔

He was healing so great once he returned to his outdoor home, but as you can see by the scratch on his nose, he’s been still getting into mischief. His caretakers saw him chasing off a raccoon the other day.

We’d like to thank Karen Seidner for her help drop-trapping Walter today with our dedicated volunteer Marissa Darr. 💜 With their help, we were able to get him back into our care.

Update on Momma, the cat from Columbiana who had a bad case of Pillow Foot.

They were able to remove any bad tissue and get her foot healthy. The
3rd toe on the foot was removed like a declaw (so from the knuckle down). The rest of the foot is intact. The nail was infected, so it had to be removed.

She was also spayed and vaccinated!

There is a 14 day healing time, thanks to Rescue Oasis Foundation for rehabbing. Thanks to medical care, she’ll soon return healthy to the home she knows best.

Today, feral Gail trusted a new human for the very first time.

Trust is built with consistency. The same person showing up. The same safe place. A full belly, each & every day.

With each food donation, Gail learned that this little boy meant a fully belly, safety, and kindness.

And today, she decided to thank him. 🥹

Petting her meant the world to this child 💜

And for Gail, the food may have brought her here… but the friendships are what keep her coming back.

Queso gave us quite the scare 😔

We got him to the vet, & he’s on antibiotics and an intensive feeding plan now.

We’re not out of the woods yet, so we’d appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts.

Momma is now safely secured with Rescue Oasis Foundation and will be on her way to The Little Vet Clinic Tuesday June 16th for the medical care she needs. Momma has a severely injured paw called Pillow Foot in which she will receive surgery to remove the infected tissue. She will also be spayed and get vaccines. Baby was spayed and vaccinated last week.
