One of these nostrils is not like the other! This dog’s right nostril has undergone a rhinoplasty aka a nose job. (Don’t worry the left nostril soon followed suite!) This pup is looking at you so your left is the pup’s right. You can actually see a nostril whereas the left nostril is almost solid tissue.
Brachiocephalic obstructive airway syndrome is very common in smooshed face breeds- think bulldog, pekingese, Shih Tzu, pug, Boston terrier, Persian cats, etc. and can involve any or all of the following- stenosis or narrow nostrils, elongated soft pallet, everted saccules, or narrowing of the trachea.
That’s right, this dog had a nose job / plastic surgery today!! No longer needing a snorkel for mouth breathing this is a nose breather now! We love a good before and after, especially when it involves less snoring and snorting 👃 😉 🐶
