A local Maine business went about its day while an attacker quietly sat inside their Google Workspace for four months. No alarm went off. Nothing looked wrong. They had no idea.

That restart bought you another hour. The one before it bought you two. The pattern is worth noticing.

A machine that slows to a crawl. A computer that drops off the network every few days. A crash that comes back the moment you close the warning and move on. These feel like separate problems. Often they are the same gap, just seen from different angles.

The restart is not wrong. It helps. It is just not enough. Every quick fix aimed at the symptom leaves the actual cause sitting right where it was, quietly waiting to show up again.

Chaos or control? That’s the real IT question.

“Zoomies IT” is reactive: crashed systems, tangled cables, everyone scrambling. Exciting until it costs you a client or a day of downtime.

“Boring IT” is proactive: monitored, secured, quiet. No fire drills. Just “Systems Normal” on every screen.

Part 2 - The farmhouse basement. All the network gear was plugged into an outlet tied to the main basement light switch, so flipping the lights off killed WiFi for the whole house! We cleaned up the wiring and mounted a proper rack with a network-grade PDU, giving the equipment dedicated, always-on power. No more mystery outages!
