Happy Equestrian Safety Awareness Week! 🐎 Here is my PSA announcement to wear a helmet! I have been riding and working with horses for almost 40 years, been training for roughly 35, and yes I still wear a helmet. I like my noggin intact. I’ve had several falls that would have been much worse without a helmet, one in the last year. So buckle up, buttercup! 😁🤠

Yay horse people!

Some people worry they're spending too much money on their horses. We're here to remind you that horses are basically holding this country together!

2.2 million jobs number comes from the 2023 National Equine Economic Impact Study by the American Horse Council. Yeah, we looked it up!

Now go hug your horse and tell them thanks for the economic gains or whatever. 😂

When a farrier loses a horse from their schedule, it isn't just another appointment that disappears.
Over time, those horses become familiar faces. We learn their personalities, their quirks, what makes them nervous, and what makes them comfortable. We celebrate their progress, work through their challenges, and often watch them grow from youngsters into seasoned partners.
When a horse passes away, it affects us too. Not only because it's part of our livelihood, but because we build relationships with both the horses and their owners. We invest our time, knowledge, and a piece of our hearts into every stop on the schedule.
Being a farrier is about much more than trimming and shoeing horses. It's about serving animals we care about and the people who love them.
They leave hoofprints on more than just the ground.

Funny how the horse world works…
Post a wreck, a runaway, or someone getting dumped — BOOM 💥
Views, shares, comments from everybody and their brother.
Post a solid c**t getting started right… quiet hands, soft face, correct foundation —
Crickets.
Post the highlight reel chaos — bucking, spinning, “watch this” moments —
Everybody’s an expert in the comments.
Post the everyday grind — long days, sore backs, fixing holes, putting real training into one —
Nobody cares.
We’ve built a culture that celebrates the wreck more than the work.
Truth is…
The best horsemen you’ll ever meet aren’t loud about it.
They’re not chasing viral moments.
They’re in the arena when nobody’s watching, doing the boring stuff right — over and over again.
That’s where the real ones are made.
Not in the chaos… in the consistency.
But consistency doesn’t trend.
So here’s a question for you —

Snowman was never meant to become a legend.
When Dutch immigrant and farmer Harry de Leyer first spotted the skinny gray horse at an auction, Snowman was standing among animals nobody wanted — tired, overlooked, and only moments away from being sold for slaughter. Harry bought him simply to be a quiet school horse for his children.

But from the moment Snowman arrived at the farm, something extraordinary began to unfold.

The De Leyer children adored him. They groomed him, rode him ba****ck, fed him treats, and welcomed him into their everyday lives. Snowman wasn’t treated like a disposable horse or a stepping stone to something better. He was loved.

And somehow… he seemed to understand that.

When Harry later sold him, Snowman did something no one expected. He repeatedly jumped fences and travelled back home to the De Leyer farm — determined to return to the people he trusted. Again and again, he chose them.

That bond changed everything.

What started as a neglected horse with no future slowly became one of the greatest Cinderella stories in equestrian history. Through patience, kindness, and trust, Snowman transformed into an elite show jumper — eventually competing against some of the best horses in the world.

But the real magic of Snowman’s story was never just about trophies or fame.

It was about a horse everyone had given up on… and a family who saw worth in him anyway.

A reminder that sometimes all a horse needs is someone willing to believe in them.
