We’re raising funds for Farrah, a 14-year-old Warmblood draft mare battling Chronic Progressive Lymphedema (CPL), a serious condition that causes severe swelling, skin changes, recurring sores, infections, and discomfort in her legs. For more than a year, we at Helios Equine Performance & Rehabilitation Center have provided Farrah’s rehabilitation and supportive care pro bono, donating hundreds of hours of treatment, monitoring, wound care, and rehabilitation.
Recently, after extensive research and consultation with her veterinary team, we began treating Farrah with Renovo. Helios funded approximately $6,000 for her first treatment ourselves. For the first time, we are seeing a significant change. The swelling around Farrah’s upper leg and stifle has decreased enough that veins that were previously hidden by the swelling are now becoming visible. Her veterinary team is very encouraged by the response and believes continuing treatment is worthwhile.
Our Goal: $20,000
Farrah is expected to need approximately four additional treatments, at roughly $5,000 per treatment. Rather than stop and fundraise between each round, we hope to raise enough to allow her veterinary team to continue treatment without unnecessary delays.
Milestones:
• $5,000 — One treatment
• $10,000 — Two treatments
• $15,000 — Three treatments
• $20,000 — Full anticipated treatment plan
More Than 1.2 Million Views
Farrah’s journey has already reached more than 1.2 million views on social media. If only a small portion of those people helped, 1,000 people giving $20 would fully fund her anticipated treatment plan.
Every donation matters, whether it is $5, $10, $25, $50, or more. If you cannot donate, please share Farrah’s story. A share may reach the person or business that can help fund her next treatment.
Why We Keep Fighting
Farrah is one of the sweetest and most gentle horses we have ever worked with. Despite everything she has been through, she continues to trust the people caring for her every day. We have supported her for more than a year and funded her first Renovo treatment. Now that we are finally seeing encouraging progress, we want to give her the opportunity to continue.
There are no guarantees with a condition as difficult as CPL, but we believe Farrah deserves that chance. Thank you for helping Farrah continue her fight, one treatment at a time.
