This sweet girl came to us because she was urinating more frequently than usual. To investigate, we performed a cystocentesis, a procedure that allows us to collect a sterile urine sample directly from the bladder. We then performed a urinalysis, which revealed bacteria in her urine, consistent with a urinary tract infection (UTI). We were able to start treatment to help her feel better right away!

Bella gets a gold star for cooperation and a 10/10 for cuteness 🌟

Pay attention to changes in your pet’s normal bathroom routine. Even small changes can tell us a lot! If you notice something unusual, contact your veterinarian. If your pet is straining but unable to pass urine, seek emergency vet care!

When you bring your pet in for a dental, it’s much more than just a teeth cleaning 🦷

A “dental” is a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT). Your pet is placed under general anesthesia, which allows our team to safely clean above and below the gumline, where dental disease can hide.
Once the teeth are clean, we take dental radiographs (X-rays), and our doctor performs a thorough oral examination and probes each tooth to identify any areas of concern.

Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is an important part of the COHAT. It helps our doctors evaluate your pet’s overall health and create the safest anesthetic plan possible.

Chili came in to see us the other day, and during Dr. Perez’s thorough head-to-tail physical exam, she discovered a suspicious mass that his owner wasn’t aware of.

That’s exactly why annual wellness exams are so important!
It’s not because pet owners aren’t paying attention or are missing something they should have noticed. Our pets can have subtle changes that are difficult to see, feel, or recognize at home, especially when they’re acting completely normal.

A wellness exam gives our veterinary team the opportunity to use trained eyes and hands to look for things that may otherwise go unnoticed. Sometimes that means finding a small lump, a dental issue, a heart murmur, changes in the eyes, or other subtle findings before they become more obvious.

In Chili’s case, Dr. Perez decided to investigate the mass further and perform a cytology. Through fine needle aspiration we can collect cells from the mass and examine them under a microscope. This can give us valuable information about what we’re dealing with and help determine the best course of action.

And as for Chili… he remained completely unbothered throughout the entire process 🤣

Handsome George came in for his neuter, and while he was here, we also took care of a small umbilical hernia that needed repair. Two procedures, one anesthesia event, and one very sleepy Schnauzer!

He did great, and now his biggest job is resting, healing, and accepting all the post-op attention he can get! 💙

Luckily, Dr. S was more than happy to help with that part! She volunteered for cuddle duty real quick 🥰 George spent most of his time curled up in her lap, soaking up all the love. 🐾💙

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, the survivors, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

We also remember a remarkable story of courage, trust, and the human-animal bond.

On that morning, Michael Hingson, blind since birth, was working on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower with his guide dog, Roselle. When the plane struck the building only 15 floors above them, Roselle remained calm and guided Michael down 78 flights of stairs and out of the tower. Together, they made their way through smoke, debris, and chaos and lead several others to safety.

Roselle didn’t know she was doing something extraordinary. She simply trusted her training, trusted Michael, and did the job she had been taught to do.

Their story is a powerful reminder of just how incredible the bond between humans and animals can be. ❤️🐾

We’ve had so many adorable puppies walking through our doors lately, and we’re loving every minute of it!

But behind all that cuteness comes a lot of important growing and learning. The first year is a big one for your puppy!

🦠 Parasites are common
Puppies are especially prone to intestinal parasites, and some parasites can affect people too. F***l testing and appropriate parasite prevention are an important part of puppy care.

❤️ Starting heartworm & flea/tick prevention
Puppies can begin appropriate parasite prevention as early as 8 weeks. Establishing the habit early helps protect them as they grow.

🧠 Socialization & behavior
Puppy training isn’t just about teaching your dog to sit, stay, or come when called. It helps build trust, confidence, communication, and a stronger bond between you and your dog. Training at home helps prepare your dog for real-life situations including veterinary visits.

🥣 Nutrition changes quickly
Their nutritional needs are different from adult dogs, and those needs can change as they grow. Feeding an appropriate puppy diet and adjusting portions as they grow helps support healthy development.

✂️ Planning for spay/neuter
The timing of spay/neuter can depend on the individual dog, breed, size, and health considerations

⚖️ Rapid growth
Puppies can change dramatically in just a few months! Regular weight checks allow your veterinary team to monitor growth and make sure nutrition is appropriate especially for large-breed puppies.

🦷 A lot happens with their teeth
Puppies lose their baby teeth and develop their adult teeth during their first year. It’s also the perfect time to start getting them comfortable with tooth brushing and having their mouth handled.

When your patient is older than you are… 😂🐱

This sweet senior kitty has been around longer than one of our team members and a she’s still living her best life!

Cats can live long, happy, and comfortable lives well into their senior years, but as our feline friends get older, routine wellness exams and bloodwork become increasingly important!

Cats are really good at masking pain or symptoms when something isn’t quite right. Routine bloodwork can help us catch changes in things like kidney and liver function, blood sugar, and other health markers before your cat starts showing obvious signs of illness.

Our goal isn’t just to help our senior pets live longer it’s to help them live comfortable, healthy, happy lives for as long as possible. 🐾❤️
