Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a needle felt your pet class at the LUX Center for the Arts with my co-workers. You guys already know I had to pick my girl Skwid as my needle felting model! It truly was such a fun experience to hang out with the entire class and learn a new hobby together! I especially loved to see everyone’s pets come to life!

While Skwid didn’t turn out 100% perfect, she still got her rememberable apple hat and the bald eyebrows most black cats have. It’s safe to say that I might need to buy my own supplies and needle felt every cat and kitten we’ve ever fostered 🫣

Welcome our two newest fosters: Twix and Peanut M&M!

They’ve kinda been through the wringer their first few weeks of life. Twix had to get her right eye enucleated and Peanut had a big ol’ hernia that needed fixing. After a nice and successful surgery for each of them, they’re healing up with us the next several weeks!

Twix is a biscuit making FIEND! I don’t think anyone has told her that she doesn’t have to pay back those medical bills because she is working overtime to the max! Sweet little Peanut is the size of a peanut m&m and has decided that we’re actually not that scary and follows us around the kitten room when she’s not on our laps!

These girlies are actually part of a trio of little girl kittens that needed surgery, our third just needed another check up after her enucleation and should be joining us in the next few days. Of course once she’s here, we’ll introduce her as well!

Shout out to Beatrice Humane Society for always doing what’s right for even the littlest of guys! We’re so happy that we get to work with such a great local shelter😻

The rumors are true, Flapjack and K’nuckles have made their journey back to Beatrice Humane Society and will be getting neutered TOMORROW! This means that they’ll also both be available for adoption!

Flapjack sure did grow into a real cat instead of an opossum and K’nuckles had such a transformation! From hiding behind the cat tree and hissing to running up to greet us every time we entered the foster room😭 It was such a pleasure to host these esteemed gentlemen for the past few weeks! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for them😻

P.S. We’ll introduce our two newest little ladies tomorrow once they settle in, but for now there’s a little sneak peek of them on our story!

Happy National Beach Day!🏖️

As you all know, Stray By The Bay is bringing the beach to Lincoln, Nebraska! With our coastal, beachy theming throughout the cafe, we hope to bring a little bit of the East Coast to our new home!

While these pictures are just a general vision board and some mock-ups, we hope that our final version will bring the same idea to life!

It’s our last weekend with THE BOYS!

Flapjack and K’nuckles will officially be making their return to Beatrice Humane Society Monday night and will be getting neutered the next day, September 1st!

That means that today was painting night! The best way to go about getting a foster kitten/cat painting without getting paws dirty is by using a ziploc bag or plastic wrap! Take your canvas, add whatever colors you want (in this case we felt Flapjack was Caribbean blue and K’nuckles a deep red), slap a ziploc on top or place it inside if your canvas is small enough, and let them go to town! We’ve found that wet food, churu, and wand toys are the best way to get them moving that paint around. Once they’ve squished it to your liking, peel that plastic off, and viola! You got yourself a work of art!

These happy little chums got a little snack and we got a keepsake of them forever! Really a win-win for everyone!

Ps. Sorry for being a bit MIA this week! Classes started the week before and life got a bit overwhelming 😵‍💫

Y’all picked the design, so why not pick a color too!

We picked out 10 possible color choices for the winning design by Madison! There’s some lighter choices with the black design and some darker, moodier colors with a white design! These are just some mockups, but we’re thinking of having the design take up the back and then having the front just have “Stray By The Bay” to the left.

It’s night market day! Come catch us University Place Creative District Maker’s Market until 10pm!

We may not have gotten enough sardine toys done to bring here (darn college classes started back up this week), but we have our usual goodies and news about our physical location!

Hello Crew!

We had a quick meeting with our physical location renovation team today and got some quick updates! Demo started over the weekend and they were able to get all of the Blockbuster blue carpet and old drop ceiling out. While they’re waiting for the last of the permits to come through, they’ll be working on getting some non-permit related things done like mapping out the plumbing we’ll need in different areas of the cafe!

We should have a more detailed construction schedule in hand soon, but for now it looks like everything should be completed by the first week or two of December! Obviously things can change, but we want to keep you all as updated as possible!

In the next 30 days or so, we’ll start picking out swatches for flooring, paint colors, counter tops, etc. We’re so excited to actually see our vision come to life 😻
