I had the great pleasure of meeting MAJOR, the Comfort Canine from the York P.D., while he was working his magic with the students at the University of Main in Orono. As a trainer, you don't always have the opportunity to see these canines in their work environment, but on this day, I was just all smiles 😁 watching MAJOR go through Fogler Library and introduce himself as a creamy milk chocolate 🍫 bundle of love. ❤️

University of Maine in Orono is raising $ to acquire Comfort Canines to support their student body during crisis, transition, and trauma. After seeing MAJOR at work, I can definitely see the benefit and how Comfort Canines can make all the difference.

Our current AGILITY Class has welcomed some First Class Dogs and Handlers!

If competition AGILITY is not your end goal, no worries! This self-control training is also beneficial for anxious dogs. It helps them manage their emotions and think a situation through, rather than act on impulse. It's the perfect class to work through obstacles with your Pup!

Update on ADDIE:

BOARD & TRAIN clients are tough! Not because of the Pup, but because of the real issue of their Humans not following through with the "Plan" once they go back home. Then.... you have that "HUMAN" that restores your faith in Dog Owner's! ♥️ ADDIE is doing great after her initial 3 day decompression.

Hard to believe ADDIE was sent here for severe Food Aggression (Resource Guarding), Territorial, lack of confidence and structure, and unhealthy relationships with other dogs ALL because of lack of knowledge from her Human. She was by far my "Rose" 🌹 and "Thorn" of my career.

If I could give any advice to the Humans of Dogs, it would be, "Be sure you can give your dog what they need based on breed needs. There is soooo much more information on Behavior and Psychology at your disposal. Research, go on YouTube, call a trainer for advice or tips, just educate yourself!

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is a certification program that evaluates a dog's manners and a dog owner's responsibility.

I am so excited about these 2 amazing teams! Thalia with MOXIE and Leigh with PENNY have worked every day with the vision and determination to have MOXIE and PENNY certified Therapy Dogs when they are ready.. Well, they have earned their Canine Good Citizenship this week at Home Depot. A lot of work, weekend phone calls, tears, and a few eaten objects along their journey.

Currently, these 2 teams work at Heartleaf ABA in Bangor, where they work with early intervention therapy for children with autism.
