The Blackstone Valley Municipal Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for homeless, abandoned and neglected animals in the community. Animal Control Officers are authorized to enforce state and local laws pertaining to the licensing, control, and treatment of domestic animals for the purpose of protecting the publics safety, property, & animal welfare. We offer assistance with the following below:

* Loose animals
* Animal Bites
* Animal Cruelty and Neglect
* Enforce all of the town of Cumberland's Animal Ordinances; along with Rhode Island General Law's pertaining to animals
* Barking Dog's

-Adoption Fee's-

Every animal here at the shelters health and safety is our number one priority, when coming in for your appointment for a protentional adoption, we ask that you bring a valid government issued ID for the process. We have adoption paperwork here at the shelter which will need to be fully completed before bringing your newest family member home. DOGS: Cumberland Resident- $260
Non Resident- $280

CATS: Cumberland Resident- $160
Non Resident- $180

Our surrender fee's are $60.00 for dogs, and $40.00 for cats. This allows us time to better prepare and accommodate for your pets needs during this difficult time. Please bring your pets medical exam history, veterinary contact information, and rabies license information at the time of surrender.

Meet Gregory & Michael! Adoption Ready! Sadly, their owner passed away and they now need a new home.

🐾 Gregory is a bit on the lazy side and enjoys lounging around and snacking. He does play with toys and enjoys catnip! He will lay on his back for affection and even enjoys belly rubs!

🐾 Michael is a fun cat! Michael loves to play and also enjoys catnip. He will seek out your attention and insist it continues forever! He loves to be pet and receive head scratches!

We do hope there might be an opportunity for them to be adopted together, they get along wonderful and when out of the kennel the first thing they do is look for each other for a quick hello, miss you! However, they can be adopted separately.

Meet Thomas O'Malley - no longer an alley cat! 👏

This sweet boy was found outside and displayed many behaviors an indoor cat would display - especially wanting to come inside!

He is extremely friendly, affectionate, but most of all - he is a talker! There isn't a moment when staff can pass by his kennel without him starting an entire conversation. He isn't just meowing, because when he is alone he is very quiet - its when he sees people he just cant help himself and has to say hello and tell them everything!

If you are looking for a low-maintenance, chatty, and loyal best friend, you have to meet Thomas O'Malley our ex-alley cat! He is all these things and more - he is ready for a real home!

Ready for cuteness overload!? Meet Miss Luna, she is just a few months shy of turning 2! She is potty trained, knows a few basic commands, and is the sweetest dog!

She is ready for a place to call home and we are hoping she finds that place before her next birthday! 🤞

Luna is dog friendly, and would do best with school age children if any are living in the home. She has never lived with a cat, however she is very gentle spirited. She is very affectionate and snuggly, but she can also be very playful if given the right squeaky toy or ball!

Henry is a playful 1yr old who is missing out on being a young pup because he is waiting in the Shelter. 🥺

Henry was found at Lincoln Woods this past July and is estimated to be around 1 year old. The first year of a puppies life is so important, but because Henry had a rough start he needs a little extra time as a pup still!

That means he:
🐾 Needs Training (is potty trained!)
🐾 Needs lots of time to run & play!
🐾 Needs patience & understanding!

In addition, because Henry was not socialized appropriately at a young age he is reactive to other dogs.

That means he:
🐾 Needs to be the only dog in the home! (No cats either)
🐾 Needs leash work / training when passing other dogs.
🐾 Needs a responsible owner with time & patience.

It's Spooky Season! Meet Benson - Age 2 - who is a lovable, friendly, and very playful black cat waiting for a new home!

Here, he is showing off his mouse catching skills! We tried to take pictures but during the photo session he decided this would be better to show everyone, so we took his advice!

Benson is very affectionate and loves to be pet. When he sees anyone he springs right up to greet them! If you are looking for a cat that is social, but also is capable of spending some alone time - and a great mouse catcher. Benson!

If you would like to meet him, please visit the Lincoln Animal Shelter during our meet and greet hours of 11am-2pm every Monday through Saturday!

We still have 2 female parakeets looking for a new home!

We are hoping to adopt them together but are willing to separate them if you have other parakeets at home. Parakeets, also known as budgies, do best in pairs because they are social flock animals that need constant company to stay happy and healthy.

We unfortunately do not have any spare bird cages to offer adopters; all adopters will need to have their own cage and supply.

We can't believe this handsome fluff ball is still here! Jackson is house trained, loves people of all ages, and great at calculating spatial awareness around people - because he knows he is a big dog. He loves to play with toys, go for walks, and can easily hold a conversation with you at times! (Huskies love to talk!)

To be quite honest, he doesn't have many flaws besides not liking cats and annually shedding his winter coat. He would make a great best friend for a solo adopter but also would be the ultimate family dog for a busier and more occupied household!

He came from a household with another dog, who has been adopted recently. Now it is Jacksons turn to find his forever!
