I have a couple of unexpected newcomers to the flock.
Pip is a female pineapple greencheek and Chicken is a female halfmoon conure.
Their owner had just added one of my babies recently, but unfortunately a situation developed, that made it impossible for her to keep her birds.
Thankfully she reached out to me to let me know and ask for help, and of course I was willing to take my baby back.
I would always want to know if someone is no longer able to keep a baby of mine.
While I may not always be in a position to take it back, I can definitely assist in finding a good new home.
Anyway, that left these two cuties "homeless", so now they are in my quarantine room adjusting.
It helped that they were previously disease tested and were negative.
Only Borna test is still missing, so I will be sending that out by next week.
On this note, I also want to acknowledge that there are life circumstances that make it impossible to keep a bird or pet.
Granted, some folks give up too quickly (just thinking about all those standard "rehoming because I don't have the time to give him the attention he deserves" posts - that's why I always suggest to get two to begin with. Then they have each other, and as long as all their other needs are met, they will be perfectly happy)
But there are those situations where the human has to come first.
Life throws wrenches into best laid plans, and especially with long-lived birds, there's a higher chance that the need to find a new home may arise eventually, no matter how beloved of a family member the pet is.
