Ohio SPCA & Humane Society The Ohio SPCA & Humane Society is a 501(c)3 organization that is funded solely by donations, grants, and bequests.

The HSOAC is now under the management of the Ohio SPCA. After struggling to serve the needs of the animals and the community for the past several years, the former Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Allen County made the decision to turn over the operation and functions of the humane society to the Ohio SPCA. This decision was based on the belief that the Ohio SPCA was the right organizat

ion to take the humane society into the future. Over the course of the next several months the humane society will be restructured during a transition period with many changes taking place. The mission of the humane society will be fulfilled with existing programs being strengthened and expanded and new programs being added. The Ohio SPCA is dedicated to helping animals through the education of adults and children, the elimination of overpopulation, and enforcing zero tolerance of animal cruelty. The Ohio SPCA has already trained four humane officers to respond to reports of animal abuse and neglect and enforce animal cruelty laws under the Ohio Revised Code. The Ohio SPCA will continue to rescue animals across the state, but Allen County animals and residents will receive help through county priority programs. It is our vision that the animal shelter become a family destination for people from everywhere to connect with animals of all kinds. As goals are reached, we believe that Allen County will become a shining star and the best place for animals in the State of Ohio.

Emily is a beautiful 5-year-old Bulldog who came to us after a partnering rescue stepped in to help remove her from an Amish mill.

She was used for breeding, and after undergoing a C-section where she was spayed, she was no longer “needed.”

But to us… Emily is everything.

Despite her past, Emily has the sweetest, most gentle temperament. She is incredibly loving, but she will need a little time, patience, and understanding as she adjusts to a real home, something she’s likely never truly known.

What is FIV?
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) affects a cat’s immune system, but it’s important to know that FIV+ cats can still live long, happy, and healthy lives with proper care. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, meaning it’s not easily transmitted through casual contact like sharing food bowls or grooming. Many FIV+ cats do great in homes, especially as indoor-only pets, and can even live with other friendly cats with proper introductions.

Double the Love: Meet Pink & Fiona 💕

Some friendships are simply meant to be.

Pink and Fiona came to the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society from the same hoarding case, uncertain of what the future would hold. Through all the changes and challenges, these two girls found comfort in one another and formed a special bond that continues today.

Pink is a beautiful black Domestic Shorthair with a gentle spirit.

Fiona is a gorgeous tortoiseshell Domestic Shorthair with plenty of charm. Fiona is believed to have a nasal polyp, which sometimes causes her to sound a little congested. Despite her occasional noisy breathing, she is happy, healthy, and enjoys life just like any other cat.

At approximately 4–5 years old, both girls have left their difficult past behind and are ready for the next chapter of their lives. They spend much of their time together and would love nothing more than to find a forever home where they can continue their friendship.
