Looking for a beginner reptile? Crested geckos might be for you! 🦎

Quick facts:
- Juveniles + adults will need a 18”x18”x36x tank- but larger is always better!
- They are best as solitary animals (kept alone)
- Need UVB 10 hrs during the winter and 14 hrs during the summer (Ferguson Zone 1)
- Their diet consists of a nutritionally-complete powder diet and insects 1-2x a week
- It’s best to give a 2 week waiting period before handling to allow them to adjust to their enclosure
- Need misted @ night for a humidity of 80%-100%, not allowing it to drop below 50% during the day
- These geckos can lose their tails if feeling threatened or handled incorrectly; this is NOT a medical emergency, though the tail will not grow back unlike most lizards
- Nocturnal! They are active only during the night and sleep most of the day

Fun facts!:
- They don’t have eyelids or the ability to blink, so they must clean and moisten their eyes by licking them!
- Crested geckos were thought to be completely extinct until 1994, when a population was surprisingly rediscovered in New Caledonia
- Their skin tone shifts to darker, richer shades when they are fired up from being active, warm, or stressed

DID YOU KNOW⁉️
-Male red footed tortoises will make clucking noises similar to that of chickens to attract mates 🐓
-They are super active after it rains and are even known to do a “rain dance” by pivoting back and forth in shallow puddles to soak up moisture ☔️
-As they mature, both males and females develop a distinct “hourglass” shape to their shells ⏳
-They usually live for around 50 years, but with optimal captive care they can reach anywhere from 70 to 90 years 🕰️
-To survive in dusty savannas and dense forest floors they produce heavy tears that continuously wash dirt and debris from their eyes 👁️

Have you ever heard of the Bubble Eye Goldfish???
These fish are a fancy goldfish breed known for their fluid-filled sacs under their upturned eyes!!
-They’re less hardy than regular goldfish because of their fragile eye sacs, and should be kept in a spacious tank with smooth decor
-Best with other fancy goldfish (ex: Celestial eye, Telescope eye, Black Moor)
-Avoid goldfish such as Comets, Orandas, Ryukins, and Fantails due to the potential for aggression and food-stealing
