🐾 A Message from Serendipity Clinic 🩺
At Serendipity Clinic, we care deeply about every patient entrusted to us. ❤️ But we feel it is important to share a reality that many in both human and veterinary medicine understand:
⚠️ Not every illness looks severe when it first presents.
Animals (and people) can appear to have minimal symptoms one day and become critically ill within hours or days. Medicine is not fortune telling—we do not have a crystal ball 🔮 to know exactly what is happening internally the moment a patient walks through the door, especially when it is our first time seeing them or when symptoms are subtle.
Veterinary medicine relies on examination, diagnostics, history, monitoring, and partnership with owners. We do our absolute best with the information available at the time, but outcomes can change rapidly despite everyone’s best efforts.
It is also incredibly important for clients to return to the veterinarian actively managing their pet’s case when symptoms worsen or decline occurs. Continuity of care matters. When a pet presents to a completely different clinic after their condition has changed significantly, it is unfair to assume the original veterinarian “missed something” or failed to diagnose signs that were not present at the initial visit. Symptoms evolve. Cases progress. Clinical pictures change.
Unfortunately, when outcomes are not what someone hoped for, it can be easier for some to avoid their own guilt, regret, or responsibility by projecting blame onto medical professionals rather than accepting that medicine is complex and imperfect. That projection is unfair and deeply harmful to those who dedicate their lives to caring for animals. 💔
We are also increasingly disheartened by the pattern of clients leaving one clinic after another—publicly criticizing each previous veterinarian—without recognizing that when multiple professionals are giving similar guidance, perhaps the issue is not the clinic.
🙏 We ask for grace.
✨ Grace for the fact that medicine is complex.
✨ Grace for the reality that animals can decline unexpectedly.
✨ Grace for the professionals who lose sleep over their patients and carry the weight of these cases long after the day ends.
🚫 We are not magicians.
🚫 We are not miracle workers.

Pet owners play a critical role as well—monitoring your animal closely, communicating changes promptly, following recommendations, and understanding that sometimes conditions evolve faster than anyone could predict. 🐶🐱
