Good morning!
You may have seen the post yesterday where Freida was on her way to a new foster home and then a update. If not, the short of it is that Freida has left the orphanage again. Of the three puppies she is the most laid-back. Therefore, she is the most appropriate for a foster home to handle.
The Foster family got to pick which puppy they wanted to take home and it made sense to take Freida, based on her warming up to them the quickest. The puppies have come a long way, but they are still nervous with strangers.
This Tuesday Iβm having a class in the evening on dog walking foster dogs. The idea of the program is to have volunteers that will be trained and will work with foster dogs that are in foster homes.
Itβs a brand new program and Iβm not taking it lightly. A lot of these dogs come to us with baggage and issues. Therefore the people that handle them need to have an idea of what theyβre doing.
Frankly, I should probably be having the same training for foster families, but even getting people to agree to Foster is nearly impossible so making it harder for them would rule out even more people. Itβs a complicated issue. π€
Remember Indiana, the kitten with the high liver counts? Sheβs still behaviorally acting perfectly fine. Itβs a real mystery. We have scheduled for her to get a ultrasound which is going to cost $500. I donβt know what else to do at this point. Weβve already done so much and spent a lot of money. π€·ββοΈππ€ππ€·ββοΈ
C**t, the heeler, has made it his mission to tear off boards off of our garage. Three times yesterday we caught him doing it. No, he wouldnβt do it from a perfectly good garage. But ours has a hole in it to start with, so he just increased the hole in it. π€
C**t is a working dog breed. He needs jobs. We are doing our best to entertain him and give him things to do. The other dogs certainly help. Chuck is enamored by him. I can see why. Iβm really fascinated and impressed by him as well.
Today itβll be another day of work around the orphanage. I do plan on getting back to painting. Itβs been way too long.
In gratitude,
Sandy
