We are currently experiencing an issue with our phone system that is affecting our ability to make calls to certain cell phone carriers. We are able to receive calls with no issues.

We are aware of this issue and are actively working with our IT company to identify the cause so we can make calls and connect with our clients as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with this issue.

Meet Sully, our big orange-and-white handsome boy who recently learned an important lesson about the great outdoors: sometimes the neighborhood comes with a little more drama than expected.

Sully snuck outside about a week ago and unfortunately got into a disagreement with another cat. He came home with a bite wound on his foot that developed into an abscess. We’ve been treating his foot and keeping a close eye on his healing, which means regular soaking and cleaning.

Unfortunately, Sully is not exactly a fan of the spa treatment. In fact, he has made it very clear that foot soaks are NOT on his list of favorite activities.

So today, we improvised.

Enter the special restraint bag… also known as the Purr-ito!

Wrapped up snugly, Sully was much easier for us to safely clean and soak his sore foot. He may not have appreciated being turned into a furry little burrito, but we think he wears it pretty well.

Sully is continuing to heal, and we’re hoping this purr-ito will soon be nothing more than a funny VCL memory. Until then, keep healing, Sully! And maybe stay inside. Your staff would really appreciate it.

It’s almost time for the Liberty Fall Festival, Liberty MO again & we are getting excited to see everyone!! We will be in the same spot as last year south of the court house so make sure you stop by & say hi! We will be bringing our bandanas, our portable laser to customize jewelry, keychains, & more on the spot plus we will have some new home decor this year that we are excited to share.

🎾🥒 Meet Sugar, VCL’s newest Pickle Ball champion! 🥒🎾

Sugar is a young Golden Retriever who has taken the sport of Pickle Ball to a whole new level. Her version involves one tennis ball, one stuffed pickle, and absolutely no concern for the official rules.

Her technique? Carry both at the same time.
Her strategy? Don’t give either one back.
Her favorite part? Probably the part where everyone chases her around trying to retrieve the equipment.

We think Sugar may be onto something. Pickle Ball is definitely more fun when you have a Golden Retriever involved! 💚

🕶️ Murphy came in for some post-surgery TLC with Therapeutic Cold Laser Treatment for his painful rear leg, and naturally, he and the VCL crew had to break out the protective eyewear!

The staff wore their safety goggles, while Murphy rocked his very own doggles like the professional he is. 😎🐶

Cold laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity in the tissues. It can help reduce pain and inflammation, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing process. It can be a wonderful addition to a pet’s recovery plan following surgery, injuries, or other painful conditions.

Murphy may have come in for laser therapy, but he clearly came prepared to look cool doing it. Meanwhile, the VCL staff are just grateful that our medical equipment finally gives us an excuse to wear ridiculous glasses at work. 😂

We think Murphy is officially the coolest patient at VCL. Although, judging by those doggles, he may need to start giving the staff fashion advice.

Take a close look at what we removed from a cat who was beginning to urinary obstruct. This small urethral plug may not look like much, but in a cat, it can be life-threatening.

Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is a term used to describe a group of conditions that affect a cat’s bladder and urethra. One of the most dangerous complications is a urethral obstruction, when urine can no longer pass out of the bladder.

A completely blocked cat is experiencing a true medical emergency. Without prompt treatment, toxins and electrolytes can build up in the bloodstream, kidney function can be affected, dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities can develop, and an untreated obstruction can become fatal.

🐱 Know the warning signs:

• Frequent trips to the litter box
• Straining to urinate
• Producing only tiny amounts of urine or no urine at all
• Crying, vocalizing, or appearing painful while urinating
• Blood in the urine
• Urinating outside the litter box
• Excessive licking of the ge***al area
• Restlessness, hiding, or acting unusually uncomfortable
• Loss of appetite, vomiting, weakness, or lethargy

One of the biggest warning signs is a cat repeatedly going to the litter box and not producing urine.

It can sometimes be mistaken for constipation, especially when a cat is straining in the litter box. If you aren’t sure whether your cat is actually urinating, don’t wait to find out.

Male cats are particularly susceptible to urinary obstruction because their urethra is narrower, but any cat showing signs of urinary difficulty should be taken seriously.

The good news? Early recognition can save a life.

If your cat is straining to urinate, repeatedly visiting the litter box, crying while trying to urinate, or producing little to no urine, contact your veterinarian immediately. If your regular veterinary clinic is closed, seek emergency veterinary care.
