UPDATE: Detectives with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office have worked diligently over the past thirty-six hours to locate Soloman Wilkins, who was reported as a missing person on Tuesday, August 4th. As of Thursday, August 6th, we can report that Soloman was located and identified at a location outside of Pickens County and is no longer considered a missing person.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking assistance locating 27-year-old Soloman Wilkins. Soloman was last seen this morning between 7:40-8:40am leaving his house off Ponderosa Rd in Pickens. However, he did not show up for work this morning and has not contacted anyone. He is driving a blue 2011 Toyota Corolla bearing license tag 6003QV. PCSO is currently investigating all possibilities for Soloman’s whereabouts and asks if you have any information to contact us at (864) 898-5500.

Today was one of those days that reminds me why we started this homesteading journey.

We harvested fresh mimosa blossoms from our property and made our very first mimosa flower tincture. We also gathered enough blossoms to dry for tea. 🌸

A few months ago, I couldn’t have told you the difference between a tincture and a glycerite. Now I’m learning how to identify, harvest, preserve, and use the plants that have been growing on our land all along.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about walking outside with a basket and coming back with medicine.

The best part wasn’t the jars on the counter—it was spending the afternoon harvesting with family, a curious cat supervising every step, and knowing we’re building skills that our grandparents’ generation considered everyday knowledge.

This isn’t about replacing modern medicine. It’s about reconnecting with the land, learning the old ways, and becoming a little more self-reliant one plant at a time.

Hey Feral Den Fans!

We don’t usually post things like this here, but this one hits close to home for our family.

My brother Cody, his wife Amanda, and their daughter Caylee are walking through a really difficult season right now. Amanda is facing ovarian cancer and has a major surgery coming up soon, followed by a long road of recovery and treatment.

We’ve set up a GoFundMe to help take some of the financial pressure off their shoulders—travel, medical costs, and time away from work all add up quickly.
