IS BO YOUR FUTURE BEST FRIEND?
Bo is 3.5 years old and is a gorgeous working line shepherd that is ready to find his new human who he can spend forever with.
Bo came into our rescue many months ago and has never quite found his place, being passed up for younger, prettier dogs, his quirky shepherd behaviours have seen him be moved on multiple times. Bo has just completed a board and train where he has learned some manners and finetuned foundations skills to make him a good citizen and pleasure to be around.
Bo knows his basic commands and has been working on his loose leash walking and focus under distraction, he loves to learn and engage with his handlers and is motivated by both food and toys. As part of Boโs adoption, his trainers will complete a 1on1 handover with Bo and show his new family all of the skills and commands that Bo has been working on and how to motivate him to get the best out of him.
Bo enjoys meeting new people, he will give you a sniff all over and if you have treats, he is instantly your best friend! Bo has been working hard on his impulse control, and whilst he will occasionally still jump in excitement, he is no longer mouthy and will listen when given a command.
Bo will need consistent boundaries and feedback from his new family, all members of the household must be committed to ensuring they reinforce the rules and are on board with training Bo, he is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8, and who have experience with German Shepherds.
In a home environment, Bo is very snuggly and enjoys lots of cuddles, snuggles and pats, he will excitedly greet you each day when you come home, ready for a walk and lots of attention.
Bo is looking for an active family that will keep him stimulated both physically and mentally, he would love to part-take in training sessions, hikes, adventures and daily walks, he may even like to get involved in tracking or other dog sports. Like all shepherds, Bo will need plenty of enrichment when he is left alone, kongs, treat puzzle and other games that will get his mind working to keep him out of mischief.
Bo has learned to ignore other dogs walking past when out on a walk, he can still be reactive through a fence or barrier such as a car, but has come so far with his interactions, he has been able to meet other dogs with a slow introduction. Boโs family need to be committed to Boโs ongoing training; he has made great progress and remains engaged with his handler when other dogs are around but will need to keep this up in his new home. For now, Bo needs to be the only dog in his new home.
Bo is happiest when he is with his humans, he would love to have someone home often that he can follow around all day, helping with chores in between play sessions. We can picture Bo living on a rural property, being a loyal best friend, someone to talk to.
This sweet boy is more than ready to find his forever home, he is dreaming of someone kind and patient that has the experience with shepherds to continue shaping him into the incredible dog we know he can be. Bo has learned to walk the walk, now he needs someone committed to talk the talkโฆ he is waiting for you!
