Meet Hank. ❤️Hank is a coonhound, and before his mom found us, she had taken him to two different veterinary clinics for nail trims.
Both told her the only way they could do his nails was with full sedation.
Hundreds of dollars. A veterinary appointment. Sedation just to get his nails done.
And how often are you supposed to do that? Every 6 weeks? Who can afford hundreds of dollars every time their dog needs a nail trim?!
Hank’s mom did it a few times, but she knew there had to be a better way.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU REALLY LOOKED BETWEEN YOUR DOG’S TOES?

I mean REALLY looked. Not just glanced at their feet, but checked between every toe, around every nail, and underneath their paws. Today, we went to trim the nails of a little terrier and discovered that one of his dewclaws was split in half. He was in quite a bit of pain. 💔 And here’s the thing about dogs… THEY’RE REALLY GOOD AT HIDING PAIN. His owner had no idea anything was wrong. And honestly, with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s easy to miss something like that. Earlier this week, we found a growth on another dog’s toe that turned out to be a cancerous tumor. The owner had no idea it was there. We find things like this ALL THE TIME. Broken or split nails. Swelling. Unusual growths. Irritated skin. Things tucked between toes or hidden under paw hair (like rocks) that might otherwise go unnoticed. And no, we’re not veterinarians, and we don’t diagnose these things. But after 25 years of working with pet feet, we just see things. When we’re doing your pet’s nails, we’re not just clipping and Dremeling. We’re handling their feet, looking closely at their nails, and noticing things that may need your attention.

Once upon a time, Kimberley used to load up 3 dogs — 2 of which are GIANT-SIZED BABIES — with the help of her husband on his day off work, drive to a pet store in town, and wait sometimes UP TO FOUR HOURS just to get her pups’ nails trimmed. Excuse me?!? FOUR HOURS???!!!!!!

And if that wasn’t hard enough, one of her dogs didn’t like other dogs, so she had to be extra careful to keep him away from other dogs and passersby while they waited. All that work. All that time. All that stress. Only to eventually be told that one of her dogs was too difficult, and they could no longer trim his nails.

That’s when she found Pet Pedicures. ❤️

Now, instead of loading up three dogs, coordinating schedules, navigating a busy pet store, and spending hours waiting for their turn on their Saturday that they could be doing literally anything else, she can have us come RIGHT TO HER HOME.

Ever take your dog to get their nails trimmed and somehow they come home with SHARPER nails than when they left? 😂 we hear about this every single day. “I took my dogs to the vet to get their nails trimmed and they’re sharper than they were before” ouch skin!
Yep. That can happen when the nails are clipped but not finished.
Clipping can leave sharp, rough edges. That’s why at Pet Pedicures, we don’t just clip them and call it done.
We Dremel the nails smooth so you’re not left with 16 little toenail daggers.
And while we’re already working on their feet, we also trim the hair on the bottoms of their paws at NO extra charge.

There’s no way to trim a dog’s nails while they’re standing up without pulling and manipulating their legs.and what’s craaaaaaazy to me, is this is exactly the way most places trim dogs nails. Mind. Blown.
And if they’re kicking the entire time? You’re pulling even more.
Think about how uncomfortable that can be for a dog — especially an older dog with stiff, sore or arthritic joints. And that’s not even including getting them up onto a table with a lead around their neck 🤦‍♀️
This is exactly why we lay dogs down on their side to do their nails.
They’re comfortable. We bring ourselves to each foot instead of pulling their legs around trying to reach it.
We can see exactly what we’re doing.
We have better control.
They’re more relaxed.
And we aren’t constantly fighting against four kicking standing legs.
Because your dog shouldn’t have to stand there while their legs are being pulled in every direction just to get a pedicure.
After 25 years of doing nothing but pet nails, we’ve figure out the perfect position to do nails in. And it matters.

Has your dog been turned away from nail salons because they require a muzzle? Let’s talk. Some dogs need a muzzle. Some need two people. Some are nervous, wiggly, spicy, or just REALLY don’t appreciate anyone touching their feet. 😂 That doesn’t make them bad dogs, and it doesn’t mean they don’t deserve regular nail care.

At Pet Pedicures, we’ve been doing pet nails for 25 years. We have experience working with difficult pets, and we know how important proper handling, safety equipment, and patience can be.

We don’t automatically write a dog off because they’re difficult. We assess the situation and work within what can be done safely.

This is the one part of owning a dog that almost nobody keeps up with.

Food? Yep. Vet appointments Usually. Flea and tick meds? Hopefully. 😂 Toys, treats, beds, supplements, fancy food? We’ve got it covered. But the NAILS , Suddenly everybody is too busy😂

And I get it. Nail trims are not exactly the fun part of owning a dog. That’s why we do them. We come to your house, do all the holding, trimming and dremeling, deal with whatever nonsense your dog throws at us, and leave you with one less thing to worry about. And no, we don’t give up. We have trained dozens of nail techs to do perfect nail trims and have been doing nail trims only for over 20 years. We get it done. 🐾

You know what sounds like a great idea? Holding a dog AND cutting their nails at the same time. What could possibly go wrong? 😂

We get asked why we use TWO people for a nail trim.

Because dogs are dogs.

They wiggle. They pull their feet away. They turn around. They suddenly decide the one toenail you’re holding is the most offensive thing that has ever happened to them.

And when you’re holding the dog AND trying to operate clippers or a Dremel at the same time, you have a lot less control when that happens.

So we do it differently.

One person handles the dog.

One person handles the nails.

The restraint specialist can focus completely on keeping the pet positioned safely and watching their body language.

The clipper can focus completely on the feet, the nails and exactly where that tool is going.

Because nobody needs to accidentally take a chunk out of a toe because Mr. Wiggles decided to launch himself sideways. 😂

We’ve been doing pet nails for 25 YEARS. We’ve handled thousands upon thousands of pets, including the wiggly, nervous, spicy and downright dramatic ones.
