It’s been a rainy May but that means all our favorite critters are out in full swing, and there’s never been a better time to come spend some time on the farm! Join us Monday, June 1st at Headwater Community Farm for the second in our nature writing workshop series. This time, we’ll be focusing on subjectivity and what it means to be a part of nature. No writing experience needed, just bring a pencil, a notebook, and an open mind! Registration link in bio.

About your instructor: Em J Parsley (they/them, he/him) is the author of the award-winning poetry chapbook THE ANONYM GOSPELS (April Gloaming Publishing, 2024) and the novella YOU, FROM BELOW (Split Lip Press, 2025). They received their MFA at the University of Texas at El Paso, were the 2024 Writer-in-Residence at Wormfarm Institute, and received Granta Magazine’s Nature Writing scholarship in 2025. He is interested in combining his agricultural, ecological, and creative practices to participate in material change in his communities.

Can’t make it? No worries! We’ll be having two more nature writing workshops this year, one for each season. Save the dates:

Fall Nature Writing Workshop:
Monday, October 5, 4-6p.m.
Headwater Community Farm

Winter Nature Writing Workshop:
Monday, November 30, 4-6p.m.

Hortus Gardens, a landscape design-build-maintain firm in central Kentucky, is devoted to the art of horticulture. Seedleaf wants to thank them again for helping us share and develop this same love of horticulture with more people in our community. Hortus Gardens generously sponsored Seedleaf's Spring Garden party last month, which helped ensure our growing spaces have what they need to thrive in the weeks ahead. Thank you!

Our update of The William Wells Brown School Garden is all done! This community effort could not have been completed without the help of Lexington Parks and Recreation (Ms.Lisa!), Fayette County Public Schools, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, the University of Kentucky Martin Luther King Center, landscapers GrowLex and volunteers Vinayak, Savannah, Samantha, Aiden, and Michael. A special thanks is due to Ms. Jill Wilson who worked hard to get this garden rebuilt. 💜💛💜💛🌱

Because of you, we are closer to being able to create more fuel for our growing spaces, which means more nourishment being shared.

Seedleaf is so grateful for the generosity that was shown to us during KY Gives Day! Thank you for giving and for spreading the word. Yesterday $6,352 was raised in support of Seedleaf’s Compost Pick-Up relaunch! Your kindness means so much.
Thanks again.💚
