🚨 WE’RE BACK! 🚨

Good news — the brakes no longer sound like a three-car pileup, the tail light is functioning again, and apparently my stethoscope and thermometer were not the appropriate diagnostic tools. 😂

The truck has received the TLC it desperately needed, and we are officially back to our regularly scheduled programming!

🚨 And emergency coverage for established clients

Thank you to everyone for being patient and understanding while the truck got some much-needed attention. Turns out even the vet truck needs to see a professional every once in a while. 😅

🚨 Limited Emergency Coverage This Weekend 🚨

The Cross G vet truck has apparently decided it would like to become the patient this weekend. 😂

Current clinical signs include:

* Brakes that sound approximately like a 3-car pileup
* One non-functioning tail light
* A general appearance of needing a little TLC

I have attempted to diagnose the problem myself, but unfortunately my stethoscope and thermometer are not giving me the answers I need. 🩺🚙

So, until someone with slightly more automotive knowledge than me can get her feeling better, emergency/on-farm availability will be limited this weekend.

I’ll still be available by phone/text and will do my best to help however I can, but please understand that my ability to physically get to emergencies may be limited.

Hopefully after a little rest, diagnostics, and appropriate treatment, the truck will make a full recovery. 😂🤞

Thank you for understanding — apparently even the vet truck needs a sick day every now and then!

And just like that, summer student season has come to an end. ❤️

When I started Cross G, I knew I wanted students to have the opportunity to see what large animal medicine actually looks like — not just ride along and watch, but jump in, get dirty, ask questions, try things, and learn.

And these girls definitely did that.

Over the summer they pregnancy checked cows, worked cattle, bled pigs, helped with emergencies, wrestled assorted farm animals, and spent a LOT of hours riding around in the truck with me. Somewhere in between all of that, they also tackled the never-ending piles of health papers, paperwork, and billing that somehow come with being a veterinarian. 😅

They learned that large animal medicine doesn’t always go according to plan, lunch doesn’t always happen at lunchtime, clean clothes are temporary, paperwork somehow multiplies in the truck, and Georgia summers are HOT. They also learned that sometimes an ice cream stop is absolutely necessary. 😂🍦

But more than anything, I hope they got to see why I love this job.

I couldn’t have asked for a better group for Cross G’s first summer with students. They worked hard, jumped in without being asked, cared about the animals and the people we were helping, laughed through the long and messy days, and made having students with me something I genuinely looked forward to.

To all of my clients who welcomed an extra person (or three 😅) onto your farms, answered their questions, let them learn on your animals, and encouraged them along the way — thank you. You gave them experiences that can’t be recreated in a classroom.

And to my girls — thank you for trusting me to teach you. I hope you learned a lot, I hope you had fun, and I hope at least a little piece of large animal medicine sticks with you wherever you end up. I’m proud of every one of you. ❤️

And now I guess it’s back to solo truck vet med for me… although after how much these girls helped me this summer, I’m honestly not sure I remember how to do this without them anymore. 😂❤️

🐾 A new convenience option from Cross G! 🐄

I’ve added an online store to make it a little easier for clients to get the products they need — for everyone from the farm animals to the dogs and cats!

One of the challenges of being a mobile practice is keeping every product, package size, and option stocked on the truck at all times. The online store gives me another way to help make sure you can get what you need, when you need it — including products and quantities I may not normally keep on hand.

You’ll find large animal products as well as routine dog and cat items like flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Orders placed through the store will come to me for approval, and I’ll take care of billing from there.

And absolutely nothing has to change in how you normally order from me! If you’d rather text or call and tell me what you need, please keep doing exactly that. 😊 The online store is simply another option for those who want to use it — I’m not making anyone learn a new system!

I’m definitely not trying to turn Cross G into a product store 😂 I’m just trying to make things a little easier and more convenient for everyone (myself included!) and make sure my clients have access to what they need when they need it.

I’ll still carry and dispense many of the products I normally keep on the truck, too. This is just one more option to hopefully save us all a little time and keep everybody taken care of.

And bear with me as we get started! This is brand new for me too, so there may be a little bit of a learning curve on both sides while I figure out what works best. 😊

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, and I realized I’ve been much better at taking care of animals than taking care of my page. 😊

Between pregnancy checks, herd work, pig bleeds, emergencies, and everything in between, it’s been an incredibly busy (and rewarding) stretch. I’ve had the opportunity to meet some wonderful new clients, catch up with familiar faces, and spend another summer teaching students who have been a huge help along the way.

As Cross G Vet continues to grow, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for trusting me with your animals, recommending me to your friends and neighbors, and supporting this dream. It truly means more than you know.

Here’s a little glimpse of what we’ve been up to lately. I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love every single day, and I’m looking forward to everything still to come. 🐄🐖🐐🐑

There’s never really a “typical” day at Cross G Vet… and that’s exactly why I love what I do.

These last couple of weeks had us repairing some pretty wild lacerations, treating sick heifers, removing warts, bleeding pigs, and making farm calls all across northeast Georgia.

One of my favorite parts of this summer has been working alongside these students. They’ve asked great questions, jumped into every opportunity, and grown so much over the last several weeks. Watching their confidence build has been just as rewarding as the medicine itself.

We also got to spend time with our favorite Highlands (who were doing everything they could to stay cool), visit Elmo and Stella - the adorable goats, meet a few adorable kittens and puppies, and, of course, Lee made sure to stop and see the goats.

A special thank you to the thoughtful client who provided lunch. It was a much-appreciated treat on a long, hot day.

Thank you to everyone who trusts Cross G Vet with your animals. I appreciate every phone call, every farm visit, and the relationships we’re building in this community.
