The symposium ended Saturday with the final lectures from Dr. Olivia Stonehouse, Dr. Christopher Koch, Dr. Rebecca Ruby, Dr. Allen Page, and Dr. Myriah Albrecht, wrapping up our educational sessions, brought to us by Keeneland.

Following our final lectures, Hagyard staff and alumni made their way to Keeneland to enjoy the fall meet.

Thank you to Boehringer Ingelheim for supporting our Day at the Races, a fitting way to end such a special weekend.

On the second day of the symposium, attendees had the opportunity to experience lectures from their esteemed colleagues but also fully immerse themselves in Kentucky culture.

Being in central Kentucky, we have access to top-of-the-line equine facilities like Coolmore at Ashford Stud and Lane’s End Farm. Both of which were so gracious to provide our groups with a tour!

Other groups had the chance to tour bourbon distilleries like Castle & Key, Woodford Reserve, and Bluegrass Distillers and really see what Kentucky bourbon is all about!

Our day 2 sessions were sponsored by Esaote, while both our panels and lunch were brought to us by Boehringer Ingelheim.

To close out the first day of the symposium, Hagyard alumni and current staff had the chance to reconnect at our Welcome Dinner, sponsored by Bimeda.

The evening was filled with fun, entertainment, and the chance to revisit the people and experiences that helped shape their careers.

In addition to live music performed by esteemed singer Jordan Allen, Dr. Nathan Slovis entertained the crowd with Hagyard Trivia.

A special thank you to our Gold sponsors, Bimeda, Zoetis, and Boehringer Ingelheim, for providing such fantastic prizes to our lucky trivia winners!

The Hagyard 1876 Global Symposium was a great success!

Over the weekend, veterinarians from around the world gathered to learn, exchange ideas, and hear about the advances shaping veterinary medicine today.

As veterinary medicine continues to evolve, the “mentees,” Hagyard Alumni, had the opportunity to teach many of their Hagyard mentors about these recent advances.

On day 1 of the symposium, we heard from a wide range of Hagyard alumni on many topics and attended panels that allowed open conversation with individuals renowned in their fields.

Our day 1 sessions were sponsored by Aurora Pharmaceuticals and Abacus Sports, while our panels were sponsored by Zoetis and Bimeda. Zoetis also sponsored lunch.

🚨 Attention clients! If you have horses shipping from Texas, please contact your veterinarian or our office to set up an arrival exam within 24 hours of arrival.

New World Screwworm is a highly destructive parasitic fly whose larvae (maggots) will feed on living flesh. It’s a reportable, infectious disease that was found in Texas earlier this year.

In response, the Commonwealth of Kentucky Veterinary Office has implemented a provision requiring all horses to be examined 72 hours before leaving Texas and to have an entrance exam within 24 hours of arriving in Kentucky.

This will remain in effect through 12/31/26 and could be extended as the situation evolves. The first equine case was reported last week.
