Randy was asked to judge llamas and alpacas at this years Montanfair in Billings! Had a good time. Was impressed at what all the kids knew about llamas and alpacas especially during the round robin event!

Sad day yesterday. Found our youngest cria upside down by water trough in the morning. Got him upright but could tell something was not quite right. He was nursing but acting kind of slow. Took his temp which was 104. Called and made appointment at vets. Got him in and his breathing was somewhat elevated but nothing else was found to be wrong. The vet gave him an anti- enflammatory and prescription for meds to protect his stomach. Had instructions to wet him down to help lower his temp and we brought him home. He ended up not nursing much in the afternoon but drank lots of water and like to lay in the mud by the water trough after we hosed him down. I put him and mom in barn for the night but when I went out in a.m. He was gone. The vet figured he got stepped on as there was blood around and in his lungs. So sad for his mom as she kept calling and running out to see if I had him all day. He was born on the 13th of July and had some of the best fleece I had ever seen on a new cria. Always hard to lose one!!
