Barefoot trimming has been a wild ride, and I've met some fantastic people and traveled to some amazing places along the way. Gina Rice is the one who started it all for me, and I've got to give her a huge thank you. I met Gina back in 1998 or 99 when I hired her as my farrier, and I'm pretty sure I drove her nuts with all my questions. But despite that, she became one of my closest friends and mentors for endurance and farrier work. I owe her big time. Today I had the chance to visit an old homestead on the Snake River, just west of where I live, and it was a real treat. The homestead is home to a wonderful woman named Valerie, who's the last remaining resident of a small town established in the late 1800s. Getting there was an adventure - in the winter, I had to take a boat across the river, but now that spring has sprung, I was able to drive up to the ridgeline and get picked up for the trip down to the river and Valerie's place. The area is steeped in history, and I'm afraid I got a bit annoying again, asking Cameron a million questions, which he kindly answered. So today as I am back home, I am feeling blessed and happy to have such wonderful people and experiences in my life. ❤️
