It’s always special to see Wild Hearts through someone else’s eyes.

A recent visitor shared her experience at Wild Hearts on her travel blog, Wander With Me — including, of course, a certain capybara who tends to steal the show. 🐾🥰

We spend so much of our time behind the scenes caring for animals, creating experiences, teaching, building, and dreaming about what Wild Hearts can become. So when someone visits and takes the time to share their experience with others, it means more than they probably realize.

Not every wildlife documentary is action-packed. 🌧️🌾

Back again for another summer adventure! ☀️ The kids from Bright Beginnings in Beavercreek returned to Wild Hearts African Farm for another day of hands-on learning. From meeting our friendly farm animals to getting up close with some of our more exotic animal ambassadors, they had a wonderful visit. We loved having you back and can’t wait to see you again!

Last Wednesday we welcomed an energetic group from Troy ECEC to Wild Hearts African Farm!

I had just returned from another outreach program, so I introduced one of our Eastern Screech Owls before returning her to her aviary. It turned into the perfect opportunity to introduce the group to one of Ohio’s amazing native predators before we continued exploring the farm together.

Throughout their visit, we focused on something we’re incredibly passionate about: farm animals and conservation. The goats and other livestock became the starting point for conversations about agriculture, stewardship, and the important role people play in caring for both domestic animals and wildlife.

As we moved through the farm, we talked about animal adaptations and why every species is uniquely suited to its environment. Our interns helped make the experience even more immersive by introducing ambassador animals like our bearded dragon and hedgehog, giving everyone the chance to see these incredible adaptations up close. The interns are learning about each animal and how to present with them too.

Sometimes people ask why our social media features so many photos of our visitors instead of JUST our animals.

The answer is simple.

The animals inspire us—but people are the ones who can make a difference.

Every child who leaves Wild Hearts with a new appreciation for agriculture, wildlife, and conservation has the potential to become someone who protects our natural world. That’s why we do what we do, and why these moments matter so much.

Two for one enrichment! We took Rio into the EcoDome to let him run around and spend more time with his future girlfriend Carla. He loved splashing and exploring, and Cassie the sand cat kept a watchful eye on this strange visitor.
