I love watching these guys spar for dominance. Many fish look the best when they are fighting, but how do you know when too much is too much?

This group of Pseudomugil furcatus lives in a 40 breeder, so they have plenty of space to roam. The males will occasionally spar for dominance, but there is enough room and plenty of hiding places for the defeated to find peace.

After a weekend away, we still have a few survivors in the Triple Red Apisto tank. This time, dad spawned with two females at the same time. They’re keeping two batches of fry on either side of a 20 long.

It’s interesting to see that so many fry have survived while we were away for 4 days. It just shows how much available food there is in a healthy fish tank even if you’re not feeding every day!

Throwback to these cool little guys. If you weren’t aware, there are several species of freshwater pipefish from West Africa. A good friend of ours is breeding a few of them, so if you’re interested in a unique and rare fish that isn’t commonly found in fish stores, we can arrange for an exchange!

As you can see in the video, these fish are essentially ambush predators. They’re super cool to watch!
