🐾 Dog Project Update! 🐾
Dog classes will officially start Sunday, April 19th!
Before the first class, please make sure you have a few things ready:
• Bring a collar/training collar and leash.
• Bring updated health papers for your dog. Dogs must have current vaccinations (distemper, parvo, lepto, etc. combination). If you do not have records from your vet, you will not be able to attend class. RABIES must be current (if your dog isn't old enough to have rabies, they can't come to class)
• Kids must be enrolled in 4-H to participate in dog classes.
Our practice schedule will be Sunday afternoons from 2:00–4:30 PM.
Schedule:
🐶 Clover Kids & 1st Year Exhibitors: 2:00–3:00
🐶 Returning Exhibitors: 3:00–4:30
Some days we may wrap up a little earlier or go a little longer depending on how practice is going.
We know we’re getting started a little later this year, but our schedules a bit crazy 🤪 Practices will start in Pioneer Hall, and once the weather warms up we’ll move out to the show ring.
In the meantime, here are a few things you can be working on at home:
Clover Kids & 1st Year Exhibitors: Work on loose leash walking, automatic sits, and spending time with your dog.
If you have a new dog this year: Focus on bonding with your dog, working on leash manners, and just getting comfortable working together.
Returning exhibitors: You probably already have an idea of what you and your dog could be practicing. Even 5–10 minutes a day can make a huge difference!
Also, keep an eye on the page — we may be posting some videos with different training ideas we want to try this year.
⭐️ The most important thing you can be doing right now is simply spending time with your dog and building that connection!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We’re looking forward to getting everyone back to dog practice! 🐕
