Over the years, we have been incredibly blessed to watch eight young women who grew up and learned to ride right here at Swany Creek go on to be crowned Leesville Lions Club Rodeo Queen. Even more special, six of those eight girls were military children who weren’t originally from the local community. They may not have had deep roots here, but they had the determination, work ethic, and heart to give this contest everything they had—and they proved that they could rise to the occasion and wear the crown with pride.

That’s one of the most beautiful things about this contest: you don’t have to be local to make a difference, and you don’t have to be born into a community to become part of it. You don’t need a certain last name, a particular hometown, or years of local connections. What you need is the willingness to work, the determination to keep pushing yourself, and a genuine love for horses, the rodeo, and the camp that brings so many of us together.

But one thing every girl who has carried this crown has had in common is that she never carried it alone. Each one has been surrounded by people who believed in her, encouraged her, celebrated her accomplishments, and supported her along the way. These girls have been loved, cherished, and given the opportunity to grow into the young women they are today. That support system is just as much a part of this tradition as the crown itself.

Whether a girl is local, a military kid, or somewhere in between, she has just as much of a chance to wear that crown as anyone else—as long as she is willing to put in the work and give it her all. Your hometown doesn’t determine your potential, and where you come from doesn’t determine how far you can go.

Eight girls. Six military kids. One special place that helped shape them. And a tradition that continues to prove that the crown isn’t about where you come from—it’s about the heart, dedication, and love you bring to it.

And if our little corner of Swany Creek has taught us anything, it’s that sometimes the girls who weren’t born here end up leaving just as much of a mark on this community as those who were. ❤️🤠

💙🤍 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE LEESVILLE LIONS CLUB! 🤍💙

We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Leesville Lions Club for giving these girls the opportunity to run for Rodeo Queen and for putting on such a wonderful event! Opportunities like this mean so much more than a crown or a title. They give these girls the chance to grow, build confidence, step outside their comfort zones, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for investing in these young ladies and giving them a place to shine! 👑🐴

We also want to give a very special thank you to Mrs. Judy, Mrs. Bernadine, Mrs. Courtney, and Mrs. Emily! ❤️

Y’all go above and beyond in ways that deserve to be recognized. From helping the girls inside the arena to supporting them outside of it, the time, patience, encouragement, and love you pour into these girls do not go unnoticed. Taking the time to organize extra practices, helping them prepare for the hormanship pattern, helping them prepare for their test, working with them on their speeches, and preparing them for interviews is so much more than simply helping them compete. You are teaching them confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and how to believe in themselves.

You show up for these girls, encourage them when they doubt themselves, and help them find the confidence to stand tall and give it their all. You put in hours of your own time to make sure they are prepared, not just to compete, but to represent themselves and their community with pride.

That kind of dedication goes far beyond rodeo, and it makes a difference these girls will carry with them long after the arena lights go out. ❤️

Thank you for pouring so much into these young ladies, for believing in them, and for helping them become the strong, confident young women they are growing into. It truly takes a village, and we are so thankful these girls have people like y’all in their corner!

Congratulations to all the girls who took the leap, put in the work, faced their fears, and gave this experience their very best. No matter the outcome, the growth, courage, and lessons learned along the way are wins in their own right.

A HUGE congratulations to Kelsey Wood for winning 2026 Leesville Lions Club Rodeo Queen and the Horsemanship Pattern! 🤠🐴

Watching Kelsey grow over the years has been such a special thing. The hours spent in the saddle, the early mornings, the hard work, the dedication, the moments of frustration, and all the little things that happen behind the scenes are what make moments like this so incredibly rewarding. The world sees the win, but we see everything it took to get there. ❤️

Because the truth is, the journey isn’t always easy. There have been mistakes, disappointments, setbacks, and days when things didn’t go as planned. But that’s the beauty of this sport. It’s not about never failing; it’s about what you do after you fail. It’s about getting back in the saddle, learning from your mistakes, wiping away the tears, putting in another hour of practice, and showing up the next day determined to do better. The failures are just as much a part of the story as the victories, because they help build the kind of horsewoman who can truly appreciate a moment like this.

Kelsey, watching you grow, learn, overcome challenges, and continue to chase your goals has been just as rewarding as watching you bring home the wins. It takes more than talent to be a true horsewoman. It takes patience, humility, perseverance, and a heart that refuses to give up when things get hard.

Today, you get to celebrate the wins, and you should be so proud of every single one of them. But I hope you are just as proud of the hard days, the mistakes, and the moments when you had to work twice as hard to get back up. Those moments helped shape you into the young lady standing in that arena today.

The ribbons are wonderful, but the growth behind them is what makes us the proudest. ❤️

We are so proud of you, Kelsey! Keep chasing those dreams, keep learning, keep trusting your horse, and never let a bad day convince you that you aren’t capable of something great. Your journey is still unfolding, and we can’t wait to see where it takes you.

Congratulations, Kelsey Wood! You earned these moments, and your barn family will always be in your corner, cheering you on through the wins, the losses, and everything in between. 🤍🐴🏆

🤠👑 GOOD LUCK, KELSEY WOOD! 👑🤠

Today we’re cheering a little extra loud for Kelsey as she goes after the title of Rodeo Queen for her final time being able to compete before she graduates! ❤️

It’s hard to put into words just how proud we are of this girl. We’ve had the privilege of watching Kelsey grow over the years — not only as a rider and competitor, but into the young woman she is today.

We’ve seen the early mornings, the long days at the barn, the late nights, the countless hours practicing, the frustrating days, the days when things didn’t go perfectly, and all the days she showed up anyway. That kind of dedication doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from truly loving what you do and being willing to work for it.

We’ve watched her confidence grow, watched her learn from every experience, pick herself back up when things didn’t go her way, and continue to push herself to be better. And that growth has been something so special to witness.

Being part of a barn family means getting to watch these kids grow, not just in the arena, but in life. ❤️ Kelsey is one of those kids who has become so much more than just someone we see at the barn — she’s family.

Kelsey, we hope you know how incredibly proud we are of you. Whatever happens, don’t ever forget how far you’ve come and how much work you’ve put into becoming the person you are today. Walk in there with confidence, hold your head high, and know that your barn family is behind you every step of the way.

The joys of horses, jalapeno decided he’s an escape artist but he didn’t pick a very easy path. He climbed up the steepest spot between the culverts to escape and he’s very proud of himself.
