Cheyenne my old girl passed away sometime last night at 21yrs old.
Her loss is heavily felt. . . I aquired her as a christmas gift in December of 2011 when I was 16 and she was roughly 6yr old. It was a rough start getting her broke to ride as shed never been worked with but she eventually became THE best horse i could never imagine.
Shes helped many kids discover the joy of riding. From being my younger sisters 4H horse to giving riding lessons to countless other children across two states.
She was the horse that you could put to pasture for a year and then pull out and put a toddler on her to ride without a worry in the world.
Shes worked cattle, parades, gone on trail rides, and helped me hone my early horse training skills.
Shes struggled with health issues these past few years as many of my students know. She was diagnosed with heaves in 2015 at 10yr old. She struggled in the hot humid months of summer but still thrived in the cooler months of the year.
Im thankful I got to know and own such a great first horse.
Im thankful that I still get to keep a peice of her in her daughter Avalon who was born october 4th of 2012.
Im sad my son will never get to really learn to ride on her this winter or next but thankful he was able to atleast ride her a few times before now . . .
We began with her 6 and me 16. . . It ended with her 21 and me 31. . .
RIP my girl. I hope to see you again on the other side one day.
Thanks you Swany Creek Ranch for taking such good care of her for these past few hard years.
