One last chance… the greatest challenge for us as groomers is not clients, not their expectations, not matted dogs, not dogs whom hate their nails trimmed, not Doodles, nor new puppies, not seniors, not rescues with PTSD!! What is it????

Sooooo I had posed the question last week! What do you think is the greatest challenge for us as groomers?
It’s not owners! I can tell you 98% of our clients are lovely! It’s not even difficulty achieving their expectations because we try really hard to ask enough questions so we pretty much get what the owner wants even if it’s not what we as groomers would choose to do! It’s not nail trims; we have had veterinarians come in and ask us how we do them… it has to do with the right clipper, proper restraint (most of the time less is more) and a little distraction!!!
It’s not even a profoundly matted dog… had one today a mini Bernadoodle!!! We saved his tail and his sweet face; pup was sooooo good… I would have taken him home!!! He turned out super cute… Mom was very grateful. We talked about combining through the coat a couple of times week because brushing just gets the top layer!!!
Soooo….what is the greatest challenge… stay tuned

I think this is pretty nice mutual play! There is mutual exchange of chasing and playfully engaging! Their play does not escalate! Freya and Lumi never reach a point where they approach or cross a line that makes me question whether or not we should intervene and stop them!

SOOOOOO…
Again… Im learning!!! I had no idea how deadly bad lake water could be… this past weekend a dear friend took her dog to the lake to play and swim… only about 30 minutes. He literally came out of the water stumbling clearly impaired. Fortunately, she had the the sense to call her vet, who told her to get to the nearest ER! Blood tests revealed toxic levels of neurotoxins. Her dog is okay now. But this is in Berks County, People … if you love to hike and visit the popular lake, be super careful. Bring your own water and don’t even let your dog near the water!!!!

Blue-green algae blooms can be extremely dangerous—and sometimes rapidly fatal—to dogs because some cyanobacteria produce powerful toxins. The danger isn’t really the algae itself; it’s the toxins produced by certain cyanobacteria.

1. Neurotoxins — attack the nervous system

* Can cause weakness, stumbling and tremors
* Excessive drooling
* Seizures
* Difficulty breathing
* Loss of coordination
* Respiratory failure

Some neurotoxic blooms can cause severe symptoms within minutes to hours.

2. Hepatotoxins — attack the liver
One of the most notorious is microcystin. It can cause massive liver injury.

You may see:

* Vomiting and diarrhea
* Weakness
* Bloody stool
* Pale or yellow gums
* Collapse
* Seizures

Unfortunately, a dog can initially look relatively normal and then become critically ill as liver damage develops.
