☀️ Summer heat can become dangerous for our pets much faster than many people realize.

Dogs and cats are at risk for heatstroke, but brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds such as French Bulldogs, Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers are especially vulnerable because they have a harder time cooling themselves through panting.

Watch for signs including:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Disorientation or collapse

Help keep your pets safe by:
💧 Providing plenty of fresh, cool water
🌳 Keeping them in the shade or indoors during the hottest parts of the day
🚗 Never leaving them in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes
🐕 Limiting outdoor exercise during peak afternoon temperatures

If you suspect your pet is experiencing heatstroke, move them to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

If your furry family member struggles with anxiety during the holiday festivities, we want to make sure they're comfortable and safe this 4th of July! Please contact us as soon as possible to request anxiety medication for your pet.

⏰ All requests must be submitted by Friday, July 3rd at 12:00 PM to ensure your pet's medication is ready in time!

📋 Please note: In order to prescribe anxiety medication, your pet must have had an exam within the past year. If it has been longer than that, no worries — give us a call and we will get your pet in for an appointment before the holiday!

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Josephine Kubat to our Lee’s Summit location beginning May 21, where she will be taking over animal chiropractic care for Dr. Stephanie Winter!

Dr. Josephine grew up in Minnesota and has worked with animals her entire life. She began her undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri before moving to Kansas City to earn her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland University-Kansas City, where she decided to stay and practice.

She completed specialized training in animal chiropractic at Parker University in Texas and is certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.

Outside of work, Dr. Josephine enjoys reading, hiking, training with her dogs, spending time outdoors, and being with family.
