𝗢𝗵, 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲!

My foster momma told you guys she was gonna share a whole lot more content about me, but guess what?

I’ve been over here being ridiculously cute, hitting all my growing milestones, and you guys haven’t gotten to see ANY of it! 🙄

She even went on and on about how important my bottle was to me and how she wanted to show you guys something special about it.
Did she?
Nope.
Not a thing.

Can we blame her?
Maybe a little. 🤭

Today I’m here to show you something VERY important.

💕 𝗠𝗬 𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗕𝗘𝗗! 💕

Yep. It’s mine.
I claimed it.
I love it.
And honestly, I think I look pretty fabulous in it.

I’ve been growing SO big, SO fast, that my beloved bottle isn’t even cutting it anymore!

Apparently, being this adorable takes a lot of calories. So now I’m eating this mushy, stinky stuff that looks questionable but tastes AMAZING. 😋

I love my foster momma, I love my warm bed, I love to purr, and I especially love a good cuddle.

But don’t let all this cuteness fool you.
I’m a very independent, slightly bossy little lady, and I already know what I want.

So don’t mess with me, because I’m still figuring out how to mess with you right back! 😼💅

My eyes are seeing the world so much clearer now, my ears are hearing ALL the things, and my little personality is getting bigger by the day.

Foster momma says she has plenty of videos of me tucked away somewhere. Maybe she’ll actually share them one of these days.

At this rate, you guys are gonna see me as a tiny baby one minute and a whole grown woman the next. 😂

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in, show off my pink bed, and let everybody know that 𝗜’𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚! 💗

I’m happy, I’m healthy, I’m growing, and of course…

𝗢𝗞𝗔𝗬, 𝗞𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗞𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬!

I know a good majority of you are probably part of our Fortunate Ferals family too, so I haven’t necessarily been leaving you COMPLETELY in the dark. 😂

But it’s about time we gave you a proper update on the little ones currently keeping us busy behind the scenes!

One thing I’ve learned about managing social media is that sometimes keeping up with the content feels harder than actually doing the work.

And trust me, there’s been plenty of work happening!

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆, 𝗹𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗡𝗢 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀! 😂

We’ve got three little personalities to catch you up on, and each one has a very different story.

🐾 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗨𝗣: 𝗟𝗜𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗬!

As I’ve mentioned before, Tony already has his forever home lined up!

Right now, we’re focused on helping him grow and teaching him all the little things that come with being an indoor cat before he officially becomes my nephew’s very first kitty. 💚

And let me tell you, he’s accomplished SO much!

Watching him grow into such a confident, affectionate little guy has been incredibly rewarding.

We’ve just got one important thing left on our checklist: getting that little boy neutered!

We’re planning to have that taken care of within the next week or two, and then he’ll be one step closer to beginning his next chapter.

Ohhhhh, Opal. 😂

This little girl is growing SO quickly, and apparently, so is her attitude!

She’s becoming quite the bold little kitten, and I have a feeling we’re going to have our hands full with this one.

She’s got enough spice packed into that tiny body to season an entire kitchen, but there’s one thing that seems to temporarily settle all that sass…

𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘. 🍼😂

I’ve got a video coming that will give you a much better understanding of what I mean.

Let’s just say she’s got some VERY strong opinions, and she’s not afraid to share them.

𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧, 𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗟𝗬 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧:
𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗠. 💚

Now, this is the update I wish I had better news to share.

For those who have been following Adam’s journey, he’s been battling some pretty significant upper respiratory issues along with a condition involving his eye called symblepharon.

We previously had a procedure performed to separate the tissue that had fused together, hoping we could preserve his eye and give it an opportunity to heal.

Unfortunately, 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

And as much as I wanted a different outcome, I’m beginning to think that removing the affected eye may ultimately be the best option for him.

That isn’t a decision I’m taking lightly.

We’ve worked really hard to give that eye a fighting chance, and we’ll continue working with his veterinarian before making any final decisions.

On top of that, we’re still dealing with his stubborn upper respiratory infection.

He’s made some wonderful progress over the past week, but we haven’t quite managed to get him completely over it.

We’re continuing to work with his veterinarian on treatment and our next steps.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺…
Despite everything he’s been through, he’s still that same sweet, talkative, playful little boy we’ve all come to love.

He doesn’t know his eye looks different.
He doesn’t know how much we’ve worried about him.
He’s just Adam. 💚

And whether his future includes two eyes or one, what matters most is that he’s healthy, comfortable, and able to enjoy being a kitten.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱.

And that’s okay, as long as we’re doing what’s best for them.

Three kittens.
Three completely different personalities.
And three very different stages of their journeys.

Some days we’re celebrating milestones, some days we’re cleaning up messes, and other days we’re trying to figure out the next best medical decision.

But that’s the reality of caring for these little ones, and I wouldn’t want to share only the picture-perfect parts with you.

We’ve got plenty more coming, including videos, behind-the-scenes moments, and whatever nonsense Opal decides to introduce us to next.

𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵-𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 🥹

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t have a whole lot of new information to give you guys about him. We’re still figuring it out.

His respiratory infection is taking its sweet time going away, and we’ve been keeping up with his care and trying different things along the way. The good news is that Adam is very lively in his own way. He’s not exactly running around and playing like a typical kitten his age, but he is absolutely a cuddle bug. All this little guy wants is to be loved on. 🥰

I’ve decided that I’m definitely going to move forward with the X-rays at his next round of appointments. I’d rather know what we’re dealing with, especially because of that lame leg. I can’t help but wonder if that could be part of the reason he isn’t quite as energetic as a kitten his age should be. I’m one of those people who just wants to know everything, so that’s what we’re going to do. I want to have as many answers as we can get and go from there.

And then there’s that little eye. I’m honestly not convinced there’s much going on with it right now. It isn’t leaking, it doesn’t appear to be bothering him, and it almost looks like he just has a loose eyelid. I know that probably sounds strange, but that’s the best way I can describe it.

His next appointment is coming up soon, so hopefully we’ll have some more answers then.

And while I’m here, I also want to say something about all of the calls, emails, and messages we’ve been getting lately.

I genuinely don’t know what is in the water right now, but it is THICK enough to drown everybody. 😅

I am not taking in any more neonatal kittens right now. I’m still not completely sure what’s going on with Adam, and I would rather be safe than sorry and make sure I’m not overwhelming myself with too many things at once.

So if you’ve reached out and I haven’t been able to help, I am truly sorry. It isn’t that I don’t care. I just have to recognize when I’ve reached my limit.

For now, we’re going to keep loving on Adam, keep following his care plan, and keep pushing for answers. 💚

𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 💚

He sat in his seat like a little gentleman, calmly and patiently waited in his chair to be seen and behaved so well at the vet. 🥹

Now that Adam is feeling a little better, we’re starting to learn more about what’s going on inside this little adorable body.

Unfortunately, one of the things we noticed is that 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗴.

At this point, we’re thinking it may be something congenital. It almost looks like he could be missing a piece of the skeletal structure or have some type of deformity.

We’ve checked for anything obvious that would indicate pain, and Adam doesn’t act like his leg hurts. The biggest thing we’re seeing is that it gives him a little limp.

I’ve decided to postpone X-rays until his recheck in two weeks, and although I know I don’t have to explain that decision, 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘁.

I asked the vet the question I think many of you would’ve asked too:
If we took the X-rays now and found that it was broken, sprained, or something else, would that actually change what we do for him?

The answer was no.

At this point, regardless of whether there’s an old injury or something congenital going on, the treatment would essentially be 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, which is already exactly what Adam is getting.

So rather than putting him through another procedure right now, we’re going to give him some time, continue watching him closely, and figure out that part of the puzzle at his recheck.

𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Adam didn’t gain any weight today, but thankfully, he didn’t lose any either, so we aren’t AS worried as we would be had he lost weight. With a kitten, we absolutely want to see them gaining, so not gaining weight is still something we’re watching closely.

But considering Adam can barely smell right now, likely has a sore throat, and is dealing with an upper respiratory infection, maintaining his weight is much more reassuring to us than seeing that number go down.

So for now, we’re going to give him ALL the options. We’re going to offer him a bunch of different varieties and types of food and hope we find something he really loves… or at least something stinky enough that he can actually smell it through that stuffy little nose. 🤧

We’re going to keep encouraging him to eat, keep watching his weight closely, and hopefully, as we get this infection under control, his appetite will start picking back up too. 💚

We know there’s something a little funny going on inside this tiny body, and we’re working really hard to figure out what that is.

We’re starting a variety of new medications to get this infection under control and hopefully clear up that very strange eye situation he has going on.

And surprisingly…

𝗡𝗣𝗦!

For those of you who don’t know, that means No Parasites Seen.

We’ll take that win.
One less thing for this little guy to worry about.

So for now, we’re treating what we KNOW needs to be treated, watching the things we’re not sure about, and giving this little guy some time to show us what he’s got going on.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺.

𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿! 🥹

We’ve done quite a few nebulizer treatments, antibiotics, warm cloths..and this little man.. is doing 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 better than he was when he first got here.

He’s still sniffly, but the difference in him is pretty incredible.

And his eyeball has officially opened! 👀 I can’t promise you exactly what’s going on under there, and I certainly can’t promise there’s still a whole eyeball, but hey… we’re calling this progress. 😂

Adam is heading back to the vet tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to getting some answers. His skin issues are definitely still present, and the tip of his tail absolutely looks like mange to me. But I’m no vet, so I’ll leave that part to the professionals and learn more tomorrow.

Other than a few concerns here and there, I’m feeling 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 about this sweet boy.

He is 𝗦𝗢 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 and has the absolute sweetest personality.

Adam has no intention of letting a possibly missing eyeball, some skin issues, and a little 𝘀𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲 stop him from 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.

Think good thoughts for him. 🩵
