The Stray and Feral Rescue Project

The Stray and Feral Rescue Project The Stray & Feral Rescue Project (SFRP) is NOT a shelter but an aggressive TNR (trap, neuter, return)

The Stray & Feral Rescue Project (SFRP) is NOT a shelter but an aggressive TNR (trap, neuter, return/rehome) effort run by local volunteers. Supported by local animal rescue and welfare groups, Pet Pals Northeast, Inc, veterinarians, local animal control and shelters. The SFRP was created in 2003 to lower the over population of street cats (stray/feral (wild) cats) by decreasing their numbers huma

nely with the only proven solution used successfully worldwide - TNR. In 2003 there was a major need for a TNR program in our area, after much research and educating ourselves The SFRP was modeled after successful TNR efforts nationally and worldwide. In cooperation with volunteers/residents we work endlessly to stop the unnecessary misery and suffering of abandoned, lost, and stray/feral domestic cats. We work with and educate local residents implementing TNR projects within their neighborhoods and throughout New London County. In addition to our TNR efforts, volunteers provide: basic care and supplies (food, water, vaccinations, shelter, etc.) on a daily basis to several large cat colonies and residents and affordable spay/neuter services to low income individuals. Provide educational workshops on "Starting A TNR Project in Your Neighborhood". The SFRP is a TNR effort of an all volunteer community effort that receives no funding from the town, state or government and is solely supported by the local community and businesses we serve. Because SFRP is an all volunteer effort , 100% of donations go directly to decreasing the street cat population here in New London County. We hold various fund raisers throughout the year to support our TNR (spay/neuter) efforts and the animals we rescue.

STAY ALERT!
Wildlife have babies in tow this time of the year or are out alone at all hours foraging for food. Their babies will not survive without them, So when you see Be prepared to see Up to five or six behind them. Along with foxes, coyotes, skunks, squirrels and others!
All our wildlife are important to our ecosystem!
(Poisons for rodent removal has wildlife suffering slow horrible death from eating the rodents. Take care with what you use or buy! Many simple suffer unnoticed.)
Many if our wildlife follow trails so see them once most like it's a trail where others frequently follow.
Thanks SFRP!

Hello and Happy Holidays "2024" to all!
Thanks to our wonderful supporters and residents throughout the area we have had much success through the years, 21 years! Saving and sparing many domestic felines that have found themselves alone on our streets struggling to survive and many born into a desperate life with only their mother to do the best she can. Don't forget these are domestic animals not wild animals and need our help to survive and live happy healthy life! Because of information, education and action of people caring for their communities a huge decrease in suffering of feral and abandon cat populations, spay and neutering before adoption and much man power, you!
By continuing to support local TNR efforts, low cost spay neuter programs for stray and feral cats, adoption through shelters not free ads driving owners of kittens to shelters and simply caring for all innocence in your backyards and communities this will continue toward a handable problem.
TNR not only spares cats today but 1000s tomorrow and on n on!
A gift like no other that keeps on giving!
Please consider giving that gift that keeps on giving to save and spare so many more from a horrific life of domestic cats and kittens from being born homeless on our streets today and tomorrow with a simply act of kindness.
Join our communities proven effortTNR and rehoming!
Spay or neuter a stray, start a TNR project or support those who do!

Hello all!
We are looking for acorns again!
If you have any in your yards or neighborhoods please collect them up. By this time of the year we have many bags donated! Maybe because of this summers drought acorns are Scarce?
Acorns will be used to help wildlife survive and rehab this winter. Acorns provide a fat that helps wildlife survive when food is scarce. As usual we will be happy to pickup bags left by mailboxes or on porches.
(Conveint drop off location being secured n announced soon!)
Thanks!!
Please share!

Please consider helping a homeless animal this winter!

Please consider helping a homeless animal this winter!

Its been a busy summer!
NOW WINTERIS HERE!
SO MANY ARE HOMELESS!Please dont forget your lost pets if they survived they need you! Wildlife barely make it..
If you see an unfamiliar cat please snap a photo and try to befriend the cat as he maybe be lost n trying to find his way home. Or worse was left behind or locked out because their owner didnt get them fixed. Homeless domestic cats friendly or feral (off spring unfixed pets) are just that domestic and need and require the care of human caretakers!
All seasons are a struggle for homeless cats but winter is worst of all. The summers kittens now feral rarely make it, females n males with injuries succumb to their infections, frost bites unimaginable pain. The pain from starvation daily.
Please support local TNR and rescue efforts. Usually one persons effort that spares and save 100s each year with your help bringing attention to a suffering cat or through a few dollar donation. Imagine what could be done with a bit more support n man power!
If you know a homeless cat please consider helping him through a quick trap, vet. visit n if feral a dog house a bit of food n water bowl. If friendly you wont know unless you try and help. Maybe a lost pet! A shelter will eventually have room for him if not.
A 2nd chance only you can give him!
We can guide you! Dont you wonder where that cat goes every night? Just feeding does nothing but prolong the suffering. What are they waiting for? A bit of attention, help home, a new home. They did not ask or ever want to suffer homelessness!
TNR spares generations from suffering, ends populations in communities, rehomes friendly cats, shelters n feeds feral cats.
They know they need humans to survive please dont just look away it maybe their last night and alone!
Sorry so long however I've been volunteering for 20 years now! I see a huge change for the better! Huge! But we need not stop until no pet is suffering n a last generation of feral cats lives cared for in New London county ! Joining a worldwide efffort. Some places have no kitten season n no pets suffering homelessness.

CAUTION DRIVERS:
Raccoons, slow opossums, foxes, squirrels, deer n other wild mothers are on the move. Out making quick trips for food leaving babies in dens. Many are out at dusk n dawn hours, as they are in the den protecting them at night. Too many don't make it back n the babies can't survive without their mothers! And they simply can't be found. So please take extra care while driving many of our wild mothers have their babies in tow! If you see one expect more!
We need our wildlife all have a place n purpose!
