Travel Update!

We made it to Baker City and are getting ready to hit the road for day two of the trip.

Today will be a long one. We've got about an 8–10 hour drive ahead of us on our way to Wyoming, and we'll be crossing into a new time zone, so we'll lose an hour somewhere along the way too.

So far, the trip has been going great. We're a little tired, but in good spirits and looking forward to seeing what the next stretch of the journey brings. Hopefully smooth roads, good weather, and no surprises.

Well, today is my last day in the shop for a little while!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be hitting the road for some exciting opportunities and family adventures. First, I'll be heading to Tennessee. As soon as I get back, I'll be packing up and heading to the Redmond Expo. Then, shortly after that, I'll be flying out to Florida with Hailee as she competes at the National Soccer Showcase.

That means I'll be away from the shop for most of the rest of June and won't be back regularly until July.

Don't worry—the store isn't going anywhere! We have an amazing team that will continue taking care of the animals, helping customers, and keeping everything running smoothly while I'm gone. If you stop by, be sure to show them some love—they work incredibly hard behind the scenes.

I want to thank all of you for your continued support. Whether you've shopped with us, adopted from the rescue, attended one of our educational programs, or simply followed along on our journey, you are the reason we're able to do what we do.

I'll still be checking messages when I can and sharing updates from the road, the expo, and Hailee's soccer adventure.

Here's to a busy few weeks, new experiences, and making memories. We'll see you all in July!

Five years ago today, Cass made a post introducing the newest member of our family: Smaug the Terrible. 🖤

At the time, he was just a tiny little lizard sitting in the palm of her hand. We had no idea how much that little reptile would change our lives.

Smaug wasn't just a pet. He was the beginning of a journey.

He sparked a passion for reptiles that quickly grew into something much bigger than ourselves. It led us to start Ramsdell Reptile Rescue, helping animals in need, educating our community, and creating a place where both people and reptiles could find a second chance. Nearly two years later, that passion and mission would eventually grow into Ramsdell's Reptile Room, allowing us to further support the rescue and the work we love.

While many people know us through the store, our hearts have always been in the rescue. The rescue came first, and it remains the reason behind everything we do.

Looking back at this photo, it's hard to believe that one little lizard helped start a journey that would lead to thousands of animals, countless educational opportunities, incredible friendships, and a community that has become family.

If someone had shown us this picture five years ago and told us where we'd be today, we never would have believed it.

Thank you, Smaug. You may have been small, but the impact you had on our lives was anything but.

We wanted to give everyone an update on Hailee’s upcoming College Soccer Prospect ID National Showcase trip in Florida.

Because of our amazing community, friends, family, sponsors, and supporters, we have officially raised enough to cover the flights and hotel stay! We truly cannot thank everyone enough who has shared posts, donated, encouraged her, and believed in her journey.

We also want everyone to know that we have put everything we possibly can into making this happen ourselves as well. Between our own contributions and the support from all of you, we’ve made it this far together, and we are incredibly grateful.

At this point, we are trying to raise about another $500 to help cover the remaining incidentals like food, gas, transportation, and other travel expenses while we are there.
