Meet Hila!
Hila is a 5-month-old puppy with a big future ahead of her and plenty of growing left to do. As for her breed mix, we were told there’s some Lab, Great Pyrenees, and Great Dane in there somewhere, but after that, your guess is as good as ours!
Hila came to us when her family made the difficult but responsible decision to surrender her. Like many young dogs, Hila discovered that chickens were a little too exciting, and she unfortunately decided they were more fun to chase than live alongside. Her family knew they weren’t in a position to invest the time and training needed to safely manage that behavior, so they chose to give her the opportunity to find a home better suited to her needs.
Despite her rough start, Hila is an incredibly sweet girl. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up once she realizes you’re a friend. Underneath that initial uncertainty is a happy, affectionate puppy who truly wants to be close to her people.
Hila has lived successfully with children and other large breed dogs and has done well with both. She enjoys companionship and would likely appreciate having another canine friend to help show her the ropes. Because of her history, however, she will need a home without chickens or other small animals.
At only five months old, Hila is still learning about the world. She’ll need continued guidance, training, and patience as she grows into adulthood, but that’s the easy part. You can teach a puppy manners and life skills. What you can’t teach is a kind disposition, and Hila already has that. She’s a sweet, loving young dog looking for someone willing to help her become the best version of herself.
