Yikes!
Keep your pets safe this summer! This is your reminder when out and about with your pup to please take a moment and consider the ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ-๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด risks of leaving pets or children in parked vehicles.
Even on a cooler day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise incredibly fast. In Utah, summer temperatures often reach the 90ยฐs, and in just 10 minutes, the inside of a vehicle can become ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌยฐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ. Within 30 minutes, temperatures can exceed 110ยฐ degrees and quickly become life-threatening. Cracking the windows does not provide enough ventilation to keep your pet safe.
If you see an animal showing signs of ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ธ๐ฒ inside a vehicle; such as excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, or collapsing, please ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐น๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ถ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ by calling (801) 451-4150. When temperatures rise, the safest place for your pet is ๐ฎ๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ with plenty of water and shade.
To protect our communityโs pets, Animal Care of Davis County and Davis County Sheriff's Office enforces a strict ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ผ-๐๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ for pets left in hot cars. When an officer responds to a call involving an animal in a vehicle and the outdoor temperatures are 70ยฐ or higher, the owner will be cited with a ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ, punishable by up to 6 months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
