Baxter is an elderly pit mix with a heart full of love… and a story that deserves a softer ending than it’s had so far.

This sweet old boy has spent far too long waiting, watching younger dogs get picked while he quietly stays behind. His face may be a little grayer, his steps a little slower—but his love? It’s as big and pure as they come. 🤍

Baxter doesn’t ask for much. No long hikes, no chaos… just a warm bed, a gentle hand, and someone to sit beside him and remind him he’s finally home. He still gets excited to see you, still leans in for affection, still looks at you like you’re his whole world.

It’s hard to see a dog like Baxter overlooked simply because of his age. He’s done nothing wrong—he just grew older without finding his person. And now, all he needs is someone willing to give him the love he’s always deserved, no matter how much time he has left.

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026

This week we want to take some extra time to thank our "first" first responders who manage our Emergency Communication Center. Our Telecommunicators are absolutely the best and are the backbone of emergency response in Brunswick County. They work extremely hard to ensure the first voice you hear during an emergency is professional and calm and provide information, guidance and crucial life saving assistance in your time of need.

We appreciate our telecommunicators everyday, but this week, we give an extra "Thank you" for everything that you do! Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed in Brunswick County.

Sweet Domino was rescued this morning by the team at Beagles and Bentleys! 🐾

That makes SIX dogs in just two days that they’ve stepped up to take from us. We truly couldn’t do what we do without incredible rescue partners like them.
