I just had a client's dog pass away from neurological complications. It had been prescribed Bravecto from another clinic. Bravecto stays in the system up to 3 months. It can't be detoxed, though we tried. This is why I do not carry, nor recommend these kinds of flea and tick meds. Bravecto, Nexgard, Trifexis, Credelio, Simparica... Isoxazoline type drugs. The reaction can be delayed. The drug can accumulate over time before causing issues. I've seen seizures, tremors, ataxia, incoordination, vomiting, loss of bladder control, and death from these medications. This is your informed consent from me. Make your decision for your pet with this information in mind.

I know you all are asking then, what do we use??? The risk of tick borne illness is an issue for ALL of us. If fleas and ticks are quite an issue, and you live in wooded high tick area, my lesser evil of choice is Frontline Shield, which I get from the distributor. It has worked on my dog, Rudy. If fleas and ticks are not a major issue, but you're going to hike for a day or be outside... I've also used Wondercide, Cedarcide, Kin + Kind spray, but you must follow directions. Some have to be applied daily. I'm always looking for alternatives, please if something has worked for you that's more natural, please put it in the comments. Let's share this info with each other.

A Labrador with suspected melanoma from the medial canthus ( inside of the eye), was bleeding from that growth. You may have to zoom in to see the dark black growth in the inside corner of his left eye. He was treated with homeopathy and within 6 weeks, you can see the after. It's been over a year, and still doing well! Amazing, non-invasive, and inexpensive. Easy to administer.

Most pet parents focus on what’s in their pet’s bowl🥣, but this conversation shows that what the food is stored in matters just as much!

Materials like glass, food grade ceramic, and stainless steel sit at the top because they’re inert and don’t interact with food, while plastics fall into a spectrum depending on their type, quality, and condition. More stable plastics like #2, #4, and #5 can be reasonable options, but they’re still not completely inert, especially over time with exposure to fats, heat, and wear. Lower-quality or unknown plastics ( #3, #6, 7) raise more concern due to additives and higher potential for chemical migration, particularly when containers become scratched, cloudy, or degraded. Silicone is stable for short term use, but capable of absorbing oils and odours with long-term use.

One of the most practical takeaways is that storage habits matter: keeping kibble in its original bag and placing the whole bag inside a container helps reduce direct contact and preserves freshness. It’s nearly impossible to eliminate plastic entirely, but reducing long-term exposure from everyday storage is possible.

I first started using homeopathy about 12 years ago in my holistic veterinary practice. My desire to learn more grew and grew. Much of it I studied on my own and I implemented it even more. We've treated gut issues, skin issues, urinary issues, hormone issues, thyroid issues, anxiety and even cancer with my animal patients. My clients would ask me, can you help me with this medicine? This was no weekend seminar folks. Even had to take a college pre-med human physiology class. Most of it was a review for me from vet school decades ago, but still challenging. I really do believe we are at a turning point in healthcare. People are seeking out a gentler more natural way to help themselves and their family. As I heard someone say describing allopathic ( traditional pharmaceuticals) vs. homeoapthy, the drugs are like hitting the body with a hammer to get it done, but there can be collateral damage... Homeopathy gently eases the body away from disharmony and dis-ease to its more natural state of health. It's safe enough for pregnant women and infants... I know I've given it to my daughter in law and grandbabies!
