There are people who come in and out of your life in such ordinary ways that you don’t realize how much they’ve become part of it.
For us, one of those people is our mailman, Stanley.
He’s been part of the daily rhythm of Lucky Dog for years. The mail gets delivered, sure, but so do the conversations, the hellos, the quick check-ins, the familiar face walking through the door. Somewhere along the way, the person delivering the mail became someone we genuinely looked forward to seeing every day.
And now he’s retiring, which got me to thinking.
We sometimes take for granted the people who quietly become part of our routines. The delivery drivers, the neighbors, the customers, the people we see five minutes at a time, over and over again, until suddenly they’re woven into the story of a place. We are going to miss seeing him walk through our door.
Happy retirement, Stanley, and thank you for all the mail, all the conversations, and all the years of being part of Lucky Dog. ❤️
The route just won’t be quite the same without you.
