Meet Bella and Mika, two adorable littermates who came to see Dr. Vernaleken to get spayed. These sweethearts couldn’t be separated after surgery and were able to recover much better together. We love seeing sisterly love♥️

Honoring Our Four-Legged Hero🐾💙

With heavy hearts, we honor the life and service of a courageous working canine, Officer Mojo, who dedicated their life to protecting others. Their unwavering loyalty, bravery, and devotion to their handler and community will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to their handler, fellow officers of North Andover Police Department, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside this remarkable partner. Rest peacefully, faithful hero. Thank you for your dedication, loyalty, and service. You are truly a hero on four paws🐾💙

Raymond is truly one of the luckiest patients to have seen all three of our wonderful ophthalmologists—Dr. Cassotis, Dr. Tipling, and Dr. Clode at Port City! He underwent a Gonioshunt procedure to help preserve his vision.

What is a gonioshunt procedure? 👁️ 👁️

This procedure is a vision-saving surgical treatment for patients with glaucoma, a condition that causes increased pressure within the eye. Glaucoma is considered an emergency because sudden pressure spikes can lead to permanent eye damage and vision loss. This procedure, adapted from techniques used in human ophthalmology, is also performed in veterinary patients. During surgery, a tiny tube (shunt outlined in red) is placed inside the eye to allow excess fluid to drain when intraocular pressure rises above a certain level. By relieving this pressure, the gonioshunt helps prevent further damage to the eye and preserves vision.

Lucy came to us after developing vomiting and lethargy. She was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, intestinal inflammation, and hepatitis, and needed a little extra help getting back on her feet — including an E-tube for nutritional support.

The good news? Lucy has been making fantastic progress! 🎉 Dr. Pantel and Dr. Panos have been caring for her throughout her recovery, and she’s now consistently meeting the nutritional goals!

We’re so proud of how far she’s come and can’t wait to see her continue on this next chapter of her recovery. ❤️
