Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Rabies is a fatal but preventable disease that can affect both animals and people.

Keeping pets current on their rabies vaccination is one of the most important ways we can help protect them, our families and our communities.

Take a moment today to check your pet’s vaccination records. If they’re due or you are unsure of their status, contact your primary veterinarian.

Deaf Dog Awareness Week

Deaf dogs experience the world a little differently, but with patience, consistency and the right communication, they can live happy, active lives.

Hand signals, visual cues and gentle touch can help replace verbal commands and build clear communication with a deaf dog.

This week is a great reminder that sometimes the best way to connect with our pets is simply learning how they communicate with us.

Getting answers often starts with looking a little deeper.

Our Internal Medicine team works with patients facing complex or ongoing health concerns, using advanced diagnostics and a collaborative approach to help identify what’s going on and determine the next steps in care.

At AVCC, our specialists and technicians work together throughout the diagnostic process, combining experience, technology and individualized patient care.

Ever wonder what happens when your pet needs a CT scan?

CT imaging gives our veterinary team detailed images of structures inside the body, helping provide valuable information when evaluating and treating our patients.

Behind the technology is a team working together to make sure each patient receives attentive, compassionate care throughout the process.

And sometimes there’s time for a quick team photo afterward. 💙

AVCC is proud to support Taveuni Animal Lovers, whose work includes spay and neuter programs, community outreach, and teaching local families and children about animal care and responsible pet ownership.

On International Dog Day, we’re happy to recognize the people helping create healthier futures for dogs and the communities that care for them.
